the violence in the stadium show the difference between the 2 sets of fans, 5 minutes to go a firework goes off and the russian mob start making their way in a group to a very flimsy segragated area of England fans, the fire work seems obviously a signal to an organised group to get ready.

There are groups of england fans that are knobs singing outdated songs like no surrender, who are not an organised hooligan firm but play at it, you see it at away games, throwing bins, bottles and chairs, and a few scuffles, but that's about it. Eastern european football though is brutal for football violence, put it that Russias main newspaper has reported this as valiant russian repel english thugs show the difference in mindsets of theirs press and ours

I am....different league.

They are now I would agree but not sure how old you are.If you were around in the 70s/80s then that is your opinion fair enough but I was and I think that was a different league to.

Few years later I went to Boro 2006 on a Monday night and my mate and I walked in a bar with 30 of their fans in there on banning orders,was as close as they could get to the ground at the time.They were all built like brick shit houses,tats of cut here on their necks etc.I would have put them up against anyone and expected them to come out on top.Right as rain with us due to it being a Monday night and on TV.

I stood in the City section next to CSKA for the game a couple of years ago,first time near our vociferous fans at a home game since the Kippax and was taken aback at the number of women and kids gobbing off at the away fans.CSKA were different league and I was just glad they didnt decide to move over as it would have been like last night.
A lot of Citys away support is also now similar gobshite young lads pissed up mouthing off and would agree Russians in a different league to them.Suppose same at England.

Not a hoolie although have defended myself in the past,as you had to sometimes.Just my opinion.

I've only just started to read this thread and that's two replies from you Ive read that make you look a complete prick.

Far too quick to point the finger at the England fans and I hope as I continue to read the thread that your attitude will become a bit less stereotypical and a little more factual.

No doubt there are a few England supporters that'd be up for a bit of old school violence in the streets but the vast majority will be over there to enjoy themselves.

England supporters have always in my experience of following the national side been sitting ducks for organised hooligan groups when playing away from home. Especially when an Eastern European side is involved.

For those of you questioning why the match was played in Marseille, do you think the French wanted English and Russian fans tearing around somewhere like Bordeaux or Nice for a few days? Not a chance

Let them run riot in the arse hole of France for a few days and jobs a goodun.

Sorry I've been to two tournament with England out in Holland and Portugal.
Both times I've witnessed English fans being complete dicks - few beers and then the songs about 'no surrender' and 'RAF from England' come out. Beers getting chucked and general aggro. It's not a suprise when you see what it's like at Millwall, Leeds, West Ham fans at times. All mixed together with other ticketless English fans.
From what I can see yesterday though was the above, plus Russian mobs and heavy handed French police. A depressing mix.

I've a feeling this tourney may get abandoned if this continues over the next few days,Turks today,they like a rumble,and Croats don't take many prisoners.
It's bloody stupid,and as mentioned it does not help when jug eared twat Lineker tries to pin it all on English fans,yes we all know we are no angels,but it's becoming clearer that we are the victims here in some of the incidents,so that dick should stop tweeting shit really
