Virgin

Just had a pleasant surprise. Our contract runs out next month after we got a 3 month roll over and so I thought I'd log on to my account to check the date.

Up comes an existing members deal page, very flexible to pick and choose my package, and I have essentially the same package as previously , most of the TV channels except sky sports and cinema, plus a boost to 350mb for £60 per month for 18 months.

Have virgin changed their renewals strategy? If so, I much prefer it. No haggling, no "I'll just check with the boss", and I could renew or alter my contract in seconds and have it sorted.
I've just cancelled and been offered sky movies, sky sports and all entertainment channels plus 1gb broadband for £53 thats with 2 boxes.

They are trying to simplify alot of stuff, however they are getting rid of 2000 members of staff in the UK by the end of the year in favour of automation and AI.
Handled very well again today letting staff know after most had finished so many would have first heard the news when they read it in the newspaper.

Interesting one here and I'd like some advice, preferably which doesn't involve back doors, smashing, torching or shitting, fat chance though eh :)

I had an intermittent fault on my router, spent hours on the phone trying to get them to recognise it and resolve it (everything wireless worked, 3 hardwired devices did not), finally I was offered a new bundle which included a new router. In desperation I accepted and was sent the T&C's. When I read them I saw it was a new 18 month contract. There was a big button on the email which said"Accept", so I didn't press it and told the girl on the phone I didn't want it, and just to find some way of fixing my current problem.

However, she had apparently already pressed the button, the router was in the post as was a new O2 sim card, since cancelled and thats another story, all this in the 2 minutes it took me to read the email with the T&C's.

Checked my account today and found i'm under contract for 18 months with the terms showing as accepted.

What can I do?

You have a right to cancel within 14 days, a 'cooling off' period.

Given the treatment of staff I'm hearing from here, am seriously thinking about not accepting myself. Not that any of the big companies are better in that respect, but feels a bit wrong to go with a company who are crapping on their staff .

Cancel in the cooling off period, will have to face the customer service merry go round I'm afraid.
