Virgin

Just had a look at them and they're using similar tech as IX Wireless in the north of GM and into Lancashire but they are using existing telegraph poles. IX have started erecting shitty looking new ones in Bolton, Bury and beyond and then the wires cross all over the place. Looks a right mess. If a car or lorry brings one down, your internet will be gone, surely? Will be interesting to see how they perform, feels very old school to me.
No different to losing a phone line, it's also done sectionally so linking to a cab to underground cables at various points.

been finenuntil 10 minutes ago now not showing a connection, smart tv still working though and amazon stick got no issues

I've been with Virgin since C&W/NTL days.
First for TV, but mainly for internet for the last 20 years.

Brilliant internet, shit customer service.
Honestly, i've hardly had any issues with the actual service.

Phoning them is a nightmare, and the new WhatsApp chat is even worse. It took me 8 days to actually speak to somebody this time. So i used the price rise to cancel my contract.
Luckily, BT (openreach) have finally upgraded my street to pure fibre. So with great pleasure i fucked them off forever.
I hate that company with a passion. How it is legal to operate with such poor customer service i have no idea. Even simple things require hours on the phone to get anything done.

Just to add, i had the 1gb service.
I know have the Openreach 1gb service. There is no comparison.
Yes they both downloaded at 1gb. However, latency/jitter means webpages/emails, now open/load instantly.
Not sure why, but with Virgin, when you clicked something, it had a little thought first and then loaded the page.
