Interesting that you won't be allowed an Esta if you have been on holiday to Cuba recently.
Imagine quite a lot of people would go on holiday to Cuba and want to go to USA a couple of years later.
Yeah actually someone couldn't go to USA on an ESTA because they had been to Cuba, unaware that it was the case at the time.
You can still go on a tourist visa I think

If they wanted to visit America for a holiday and had a minor criminal record from 20 years ago, would that mean they need to apply for a visa or risk being turned away or can they just go through with no problem?
Criminal record was for entering a football ground when drunk, when alcohol was very much needed at the time due to the terrible football on show.
I went 15 months ago.
I got done with a football ban, a suspended sentence and then a breach of ban and possession in 2012.
It will be fine, I had no questions asked as it was all spent convictions.
Just go enjoy tour trip,
you don't need to mention anything, nor do the US police have access to our records
