You just know he’s gonna do a classic, bring Foden on after 80 mins, then when he doesn’t produce a miracle in 15 mins it’ll be “I told you so” from wise old waistcoat.
Someone should tell him Man Utd don’t use Maguire anymoreHe other quote about, ‘he can play in midfield but City don’t use him there. There must be a reason for that’ is even worse.
Yeah, it’s called KDB, Silva and Rodri ffs.
Tbf he’s got a point, we all know Foden should start but the amount of coverage it’s got the last few days would be impossible to live up to.
I guess if he hadn’t have left him out in the first place this wouldn’t have happened.
i think its an easier decision for Southgate to play Foden - that way he's got nothing to lose as if we/him plays poor he can say everyone was pushing for that - but big risk for him to play mount and if we lose or he plays poor again he will be absolutely pillaredTbf he’s got a point, we all know Foden should start but the amount of coverage it’s got the last few days would be impossible to live up to.

Also to further contradict his bullshit about playing players where they play for their club. At the time Foden was having an outstanding spell on the left for City and keeping Sterling out. Boregate shifted him to the right at the start of the tournament.Agree with this.
Southgate created this mess back in the Euro's when he dropped Foden, the fact Foden was being doubled up on because England offered little threat elsewhere was completely overlooked. I can't see another country that doesn't pick Foden in their starting XI.
There is no doubting Southgate has helped change the atmosphere within the England camp for the better, although you could argue with the 'golden generation' now long gone, this new generation of players and their relationships with each other outside of football have changed it anyway.
He's just a very poor manager.
