Watford (H) Post Match Thread

A pity that this one decision has overshadowed yet another teams attempt to kill a football match. We were playing against a mid table Premiership team not a league one side yet there only plan was to stifle and strangle the life out of the game. Not sure what I would think of my team if they applied that approach to a game. Bournemouth did the same last week and were at home!!

3 points, we march on. Gundo, Nico and Chenko had very good games again. Real depth in our squad.

The ref was shamefully lenient in the first half but fair play to him for redeeming himself early doors in the second.

Good job I'm not the manager, I'd have subbed Raheem at HT

These mid table teams mostly only do it vs us, which is fucking annoying.

Only 3 more home sieges to face now. Actually think the away games can be easier (if we’re on it). So close now, keep our composure and patience and its ours

...If you replace the defender with another city attacker who was onside from aguero pass and he
nips in front of sterling as defender did & scores, the goal would stand as that player was in an
onside position from aguero pass, ref would deem any movement by sterling as inactive in phase.
[eg a direct shot by this onside attacker and it's not touched by sterling at any time in any phase].

He says as defender touch was not a deflection by him from aguero pass but a considered action,
it's now a different phase of play so touch from sterling comes from a defensive player so onside.

That example would be a false interpretation of the rules IMO.

Sterling clearly was trying to hit the ball, that is interfering with play from an offside position.

I think Tierney thought Janmmat played Raz onside by hitting him,
that would have only have been the case if Raz clearly wasn't interfering with play, but he did.
Standing 3 yards left and hit by the ball from Janmaat, Raz would be onside and his lucky deflection in the net would be regular.

Anyway, we don't have to apologize for anything. This time we were lucky.
I for my part would be ok to forget the handball at Wolves.
There are enough other calls against us.

4th time in a row it was 0-0 at half time and we have won (cup final, WHU, BOU, WAT).

Player certainly will have that in mind for the rest of the season,
that we can be patient and still win the match.

Come on Burnley, let them suffer a bit.

Glad in a way that we have more games away than at home left. The onus will be on these teams to try to attack, especially if they need points.
