Wayne Rooney - how good or bad, bias aside?

If we could sign him would you have him :- Yes is the answer and we all know it.

Nope needs to have another season like he did for them last year to convince me.

Raw power, idiot, average technical skill, average finishing, rarely performs in big match, scores when it doesn't matter, doesn't score when it does matter. Dirk Kuyt and Park Ji Sung are better than him.

Spot on.

Take Hull for instance.

He whacked 4 in against them in one game which makes his goal tally stand out but really they werent important goals.

I thought he had great potential at Everton, when he signed for them lot he didnt develop as expected and became the latest in a long line of overrated rags.
Until the first half of last season when I admitted to rag mates that he was playing well enough to get in our team.... however that was short lived.

No bias from me, as I'm not bothered about United, but I rate him.

On his day, his power, running and vision is awesome.

He may be a bit out of sorts at the moment, but he will be knocking the goals in for them again this season.

Is he world class?

In my opinion he is, and I don't really care that he had an indifferent world cup. The whole England team did, as did a few other players mentioned earlier in this thread who are supposedly better.

I think that sometimes we are a bit giddy when it comes to players from overseas, and overlook our own. If Rooney was playing for Barcelona, was netting over 30 goals in a season for them, and he was Spanish, the thought of him coming to City would be explosive. The transfer forum would be glowing white hot!

He is a wonderful player, and I don't expect to see him in a City shirt anytime, but I would have him here.

Ronaldo had a habit of doing that for them too. He seemed to go missing in the big games but was unplayable against the lesser teams. On the point of would I have Wooney here? No chance. I hope that Balo will become a much better player anyway and I'd hate to see the gargoyle in a City shirt, it would just make me feel a little sick.

Yepp i beleive that Balotelli will do it against every team he plays including the big boys.

I dont want some fucking caveman banging in a load of goals that we dont need against relegation candidates!
