If both games end in draws 3 teams all have 6 points!

Yes, I wrote that... I also wrote what happens next...

In your table a 2-2 draw would put rome through but we would have a better head to head against rome wouldnt we?

Against Roma yes, but there will be 3 teams with the same number of points (if CSKA game ends in a draw)

------------------------------------------------------

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches,
the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in descending order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;

Roma 6 points (win CSKA, draw CSKA, 2x draw M. City)
CSKA 5 points (win M. City, draw M. City, draw Roma)
M. City 3 points (draw CSKA, 2x draw Roma)

Re: Whats our chances of Europa Now?

Well if we don't qualify, which we really should now, I hope we go into the Europa League for a few reasons...

1. Improve our coefficient. Unless we're champions, this will remain relevant and I believe we've been at risk of falling into Pot 3 (not sure if tonight changed that).

2. More European games and the knockout stage of the Europa League has some quality and fun games. We could end up playing Napoli, Fiorentina, Wolfsburg, Feyenoord, Sevilla, Inter, PSV, Salzburg, Celtic, Gladbach, Everton, Spurs, or any of the CL drop outs. These could be great games!

And a conditional one...

3. If our inconsistency continues, Chelsea may pretty much have the league sewn up by the time the Europa League resumes. Remember, there is a long break in European competitions and it restarts in the second half of February. So, let's assume Chelsea are well ahead of us, here is a real chance of silverware. And if they're not, well we have a squad and some sensational young players who would cherish the experience. Pozo almost came on tonight so could play.

Oh and if we won the Europa League, it'd be another trophy we haven't won before. You can't turn your nose up at that, especially with our lack of European pedigree. The competition is respected throughout much of Europe.

blue_failth is spot on. Here are the rules and each of the options...

"7.06 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches,
the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in descending
order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams
in question;
c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
d) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches
played among the teams in question;
e) if, after having applied criteria a) to d), two teams still have an equal
ranking, criteria a) to d) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between
the two teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this
procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) to h) apply;
f) superior goal difference from all group matches played;
g) higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
h) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question,
as well as its association, over the previous five seasons (see
paragraph 9.02). "

If Roma and CSKA win then Roma qualify.
If CSKA and City win then CSKA qualify.
If City win and CSKA fail to win then City are through.
If CSKA lose and we draw 0-0 then Roma qualify.
If CSKA lose and we draw 1-1 then We qualify at stage (f) in the process
If CSKA lose and we draw 2-2 (or higher) then We qualify at stage (d) in the process
If both games are draws then we are into maths land.

Here are the current results between the 3 teams in question:
Roma 5 CSKA 1
City 1 Roma 1
CSKA 2 City 2
City 1 CSKA 2
CSKA 1 Roma 1

----- Pld W D L F A GD Pts
-City 3 0 2 1 4 5 -1 2
-CSKA 4 1 2 1 6 9 -3 5
Roma 3 1 2 1 7 3 +4 5

Rule (a) results in a tie between Roma & CSKA (both 6 points as a result of the draws) so there is no conclusion.
Rule (b) results in Roma going through with their + 4 GD.
i.e. we go out if both games are draws & CSKA qualify for the UEFA cup

Do munich have anything at stake in their last match.If they loose their last match, would they still top the group

Re: Whats our chances of Europa Now?

The only way we can qualify for the Europa Cup is if we win in Roma and CSKA win in Munich.
In all other circumstances we are out of Europe.
