actually the Muller comparison is spot on regarding his tactical positioning in the final third but they are very different is how they move. Muller is more about movement without the ball but Julian is more of a carrier with the ball at his feet from what I have seen.
Pep will teach him as he did Muller

Most Argentinian journalists seem to think he won't start, but he might get some minutes.

Either way, I wouldn't expect too much from him right now, remember that the Argentinian league finished in early/mid-December, he's essentially been on holiday for a month and a half and hasn't really played competitively other than the 10 minutes he got against Chile last week.
Every player if forecast to never start or not much for us , they are under the impression that we have the biggest squad in the prem when in fact we are one of the smallest as that is whst pep likes , it is a way to trash us always used that any new player will never get off the bench , it is rubbish

Another Txiki Blinder!!

Peanuts for the South American Player of the Year.

Now, it’s up to him to do the work needed to settle in Manchester, learn the system, and work hard on training. He clearly knows where the goal is and has a shot on him, so the hardest part is already built in!

Looking forward to this boy doing the business. Hardest part will be settling in, but that’s why we have so many ex-players, ambassadors and dedicated staff for this very purpose.

Zaba should be ASSIGNED to him. Show him the ropes on how to be loved!!

You know, if you rearrange some of the sentence order in your post then you've just paraphrased the first verse to Greatest Love by Whitney Houston. Which personally I'd like to see more of.

I think he meant in last night's match against Colombia :)

Some were wondering about Tim Vickery's take on the Alvarez signing. From 13:00 to the end of this YT video Vickery discusses Diaz to LFC and Alvarez to City, mostly about Alvarez ...

Did Pep say “he will be with us pre season and we will look at him?”

That’s like he is one to watch not play from the of maybe he will ease him in for a year.

This is what Pep says on the website. He sounds enthusiastic.

The City manager also spoke of his delight at this week’s news that Argentine striker Julian Alvarez has signed to join the Club and will link up with us this summer after spending the rest of the season on loan at River Plate in Argentina.

“Well congratulations for Manchester City. City works to be in the present but of course for the future," the boss continued.

“It’s a player that could be with us now but we have enough players in that position. The best for him is to stay at River Plate.

“He developed incredibly well in the last years with Marcelo Gallardo and his teammates. The next preseason he will be with us and we will see what will happen.

“I am really pleased to have this talented player for the next few years."

Looks good value for money , similar signing to Jesus he came under the radar if Alvarez does as well as our Brazilian ace then he will be an absolute bargain , any player signing for us knows it is a battle for game time and i am sure the lad knows he is going to have to be exceptional to get in the team .But like most Argentinians especially the players we have been lucky enough to have i expect him to work his socks off and make an impact
Great signing.

I agree but if Haaland signs, Alvarez may stay in Argentina until after the World Cup.

Or there will be someone out in summer. Again Haaland will not affect Alvares plan for first team integration. If River Plate out early he will join us soon and i don't think Haaland and Alvares will occupy the same position. Alvares is also more versatile than Haaland.

I agree it’s a great signing.
One of Argentina’s most promising players all for the price that Utd bought Dan James for!
