West Brom offer to trial safe standing - rejected page 2

I'm sure @worsleyweb posted fairly recently probably in the campus thread the club were waiting to see the safe standing outcome before pressing ahead with the extension. Not sure if this decision means they will now go ahead with a seated version or put it on ice for a bit.

if all the clubs got together as one and said we want it then the government would have to let things change back to safe standing even if it meant the clubs adding another £1 or £2 to the price of a standing ticket and giving it charities how could you not back it and say yes. but like many have said the clubs are making far to much from seated ticket to change and that space per seat is now about £45 per club so bringing in a cheap standing ticket does not make any sense to clubs

remember football/premier league is now a family and corporate game and local community fans are being priced out of the game and football/premier league does not really need fans the money its in tv subscription around the world that's pays the bills
It does (or it should) make sense. For every 10 seats, you have 18 standing (it is claimed people take up more room standing so you can't just double the number from 10 seats to 20 standing).
So an area of 3,000 seats becomes 5,400 standing.
3,000 x £45 = £135,000
5,400 x £35 = £189,000 - even at £30 it is £162,000

Dreamers.

The govt were unequivocal in their refusal.

It is not going to happen.

There isn't the facilities at most grounds to accommodate extra people, even at CoMS on the lower tier it is too busy in the concourse due to 3 rows of additional seats at the front.

imagine being in the away end at west brom with 50% more people there, or Bolton, Hull, Charlton, Blackburn, Wigan, M United, Liverpool, Everton, Villa etc Maybr Arsenal could cope with an increase, but most grounds are no up to it.

If introduced the numbers would not be upped, and less fans would stand according to WBA proposals.
