West Brom offer to trial safe standing - rejected page 2

It does (or it should) make sense. For every 10 seats, you have 18 standing (it is claimed people take up more room standing so you can't just double the number from 10 seats to 20 standing).
So an area of 3,000 seats becomes 5,400 standing.
3,000 x £45 = £135,000
5,400 x £35 = £189,000 - even at £30 it is £162,000

i see what your saying but you forgot the price of more stewarding and police for extra fans that's the cost we don't see. but safe standing has got to happen or fans who stand up could be only one game away causing disaster and we don't want to see that. so for me the taylor report into football stadiums being all seats need to be review and is so out of date and modern stadiums are not safe for fan to stand up in seated areas

Saying yes has no upsides, if it works they'll get no credit, if it doesn't they'll get the blame.

Saying no has no downsides.

So it's no.
Guess it’s about money we (as a country) don’t have. More important things to spend it on rather than look into this and write and approve policy about it (if that’s what’s needed). Premier league should foot the bill and make it happen, leaving minimal government resources to rubber stamp it...?

They should give us a reason - no reason just winds people up.

There isn't the facilities at most grounds to accommodate extra people, even at CoMS on the lower tier it is too busy in the concourse due to 3 rows of additional seats at the front.

imagine being in the away end at west brom with 50% more people there, or Bolton, Hull, Charlton, Blackburn, Wigan, M United, Liverpool, Everton, Villa etc Maybr Arsenal could cope with an increase, but most grounds are no up to it.

If introduced the numbers would not be upped, and less fans would stand according to WBA proposals.

That’s a very good point

Think its more they would have to listen to lobbyists have a vote on it draw up legislation, and from their point of view they just think why bother. I presume as Celtic have it its a devolved thing so assuming they come up I wonder if Swansea and Cardiff could get approval, It might give premier league teams a bit more leverage if they did.

Not sure why anyone thinks that safe standing will mean cheaper tickets. The West Brom idea from what I have seen was to have exactly the same number of standing places as seats and at the same price. The standing places can be converted into seats as and when required.
