Best post on this thread by a country mile mate.

I'm especially disappointed by a couple of mods in here.

ohh do stop being so condescending mate.....just because i'm a mod it doesn't stop me having an opinion, and god forbib it differs to yours....but you don't see me calling you a knob....decorum

Oh sod off sob story. When was I condescending? When did I call you a knob?

I didn't but I think you need to look at the bigger picture. Chelsea forum won't be as ridiculous as ours tonight as they have found perspective in the last decade. Maybe we will, maybe we won't.

ps - still love you for your match streams even if I think you may be acting like a bird pre-rag week. :)

I have to say that this was an extraordinary two days Chelsea out , City out , Spurs out , Everton out , Liverpool out (Northampton just scored)

Your not even subtle!

RAG!

Mummy will have to wash that 'wooney' duvet in the morning eh? Full of jizz after tonight!

Right ffs, could some people on here get a sense of perspective? The 'gutted', 'pissed off', and 'Mancini is wank' comments are completely OTT. If you're really saying that you would rather this tournament be a priority over the league then either you're an idiot or too preoccupied with that banner at the swamp. The fact is, a trophy like the League Cup or the FA will be alright in the short-term, but worth nothing after that (as Pompey FA Cup win in 08 showed). But if we qualify for the Champs league, that is a long term thing, and we will be building for the future and moving into the upper echelons of european football.

In fact, in a way I'm glad we've got knocked out now before we'd sunk masses of resources into this trophy only to get knocked out in the semis or final, at the expense of our league/europa form.

And people on here have the cheek to call me arrogant when I'd be happy with no trophies and a Champs league place, whereas they demand both. Unreal.

call me old fashioned but winning a trophy and having a day out to wembley is what football is all about.....a bit of silverware, memories and stories of the day.....this is why we are fans....if we dont want to win the thing then dont enter and save us all this crap....fans went tonight paid money, we played kids...rather have won tonight and lose to chelski.....given results tonight we would have had a good chance.

are we getting so arrogant and disrespectful.....can we really pick and choose what we want to win?

mancini got it wrong tonight...bigtime.

playing the youth team back4 against prem opposition !!!!!!!

not a smart move.

I can understand playing lots of fringe players but a full blown reserve defense is pushing it.

I can't comprehend why SWP did not play unless he has got injured in training.

But the biggest worry for me is no matter what team we put out, we look less like scoring than we did last season. Yes our defense looks better but you need to score to win games.

The top teams have good defensive recoreds but are ALWAYS round about the top scorers.

Having not seen the game can only go off reports on sky and PJewel said we were the poorer team and looked very average. i thought the money we had spent had improved the squad, its not like WBA played their full strengh team.

Annoyed? yes

Surprised? no.

Focus definitely on the league as I'm sure everyone incl. Mancini knows that that is what he will be judged by, ultimately. And no, this does not mean we have to win on Saturday, but it does mean we have a much better chance in doing so.

SWP should've played perhaps, oh, and RSC could've played as well - if you know what I mean. But we played away to a premier league side with a much bigger home game coming up in a couple of days - some perspective is needed.

I'm just sad players like Guidetti, Cunningham & Boyata will have a harder time getting time on the pitch now, as we have one competition less to play in.. If we're good enough, we'll still get a trophy this season - I fully believe we are.

Which makes it even more galling that we´ll probably see fookin Wigan and West fookin Brom IN A FINAL at WEMBLEY - a final ffs - that´s all I fookin ask with this squad - is that too fookin much?

WHEN will you lot wake up and smell the f'ing coffee????!!!!! All I keep hearing is how well Mancini did in Serie A - well so f'ing what? And how disloyal it is to criticize him.

They never will wake up mate, it's the nature of thick City fans to worship the manager regardless of actions, signings, tactics or results until the manager is sacked by the board, at which point they will start to slag him off, and a new cycle of worship begins.

I actually like Mancini, I think he's got charisma and he's a winner. BUT my opinion of him has shifted somewhat after today's team selection.

He doesn't understand how important every trophy is to a City fan. He's out of touch with the fans in this respect.

Some of this is really amusing me. Out of touch with the fans doesnt care what the fans think. Grow up we have 4 fit defenders and play Chelsea and Juve next go and play your football manager where you dont need to rest players but this is the real life.
