West Brom Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Easy win. Very impressive. Two silly goals at the end but we'd rested players and switched off a bit.

We are going to win this league. That win was huge psychologically.

If we get past the Arsenal game, no more than 8 points behind them, I think we'll slowly catch them up. The gap was 6 points going into tonight's game with City being useless points-wise away from home. If we can take 4 points from every 2 away games from now on, that will be enough

I thought we were excellent at times, but nearly rued some of the missed chances in the first half.

Like you say, it was an important win psychologically but I think you're a bit flippant about the "silly" goals; they can, and have, bitten us on the arse already this season. Greater concentration is required if we're to win the league.

I suppose it could be good in the long run to get a bit of a scare but still win. Might not shake confidence like I think the Cardiff result did.

Just got back, traffuc was a nightmare in the way and half the roads were bloody shut on the way back. other than that its good to get back to winning ways on the road. I though our fans were top tonight, especially when we heard that everton scored!

Don't disagree at all. Great performance tonight apart from switching off in the last 15 when Sergio, Yaya and Sami went off. Pellers clearly got an eye on Soton Saturday and then Bayern midweek.

I've kept out of the criticism of Dzeko, but really felt for him tonight. He looked lost, out of sorts, out of confidence and out of luck. Combination of just not getting his feet right and poor decision making; playing like someone on his way out in January. Could even argue to a small degree it was like having 10 men on the pitch at times such was his input.

Plenty will slag you off Edin, but I'll always have a soft spot for you. That said, can't really seeing playing much more of a part with us once Jovetic is back to fitness and with Guidetti getting a sniff on the bench the other week.

I agree that Dzeko's decision making was very poor on several occasions in the second half, but he was very good in the first - excellent pass to Zaba for the first goal, set up Aguero for two great chances, and popped up with an important defensive header that probably saved us a goal.

What a brilliant post that is, strongbow. Dzeko is a player playing without confidence. He's been left behind by the 'new' city's tight control and passing game. He seems desperate to put it right but just can't. Like you, I can see beyond the silly fan stuff about ' no effort' and 'wrong attitude' and can see a player devastated that he isn't delivering.

I totally agree that he is on his way out. If we win at Southampton the the decision to pick him tonight was the correct one of course.

But if you take off your spine that's going to happen sometimes. And he could only take his spine off becuase the game was won. The score line suggests a close game but it wasn't. I take your point, that if we'd have only been 2 up we'd have been devastated tonight. But I say if we'd have been two up we wouldn't have made the changes we did.

Having said that, I hope he gave them a harsh word about concentration in the dressing room, and I hope that pays dividends as this season progresses.
