West Ham United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Why the fuck do we wait until time is running out before we play with urgency and actually start creating chances. How about we start doing that earlier instead of pissing about with the ball for the majority of the game.

Hopefully Pep finish this season with a Cup and a well deserved goodbye. Haaland should drop himself for the sake of team for rest of the season and a new manager next season.

Too slow, turgid and no urgency or passion. Not a great watch either.
How does a 6’7” keeper not catch or punch that cross?!
These players and this team will never reach the dizzy heights of the quad or treble winning teams.
We’re not in transition, that’s been three years now after the aging, mentally and physical broken treble team did us proud.
The newer players can’t apply the method imposed by Pep, that and they’re not capable enough.
We lack pace, aggression, creativity, decisiveness and passion.
We don’t like the opposition being aggressive, pacey and playing the low block, which we can’t break down.
The sideways, backwards, patient and possession approach has run its course, every other team can deal with it if they’re solid.
And we don’t take our chances, showing composure when needed.
Imagine having an Aguero, KDB, Marhez, Tevez, Sane, Gundog?!
We don’t have any at that level, Pep is struggling with this lot.

Commentator didn't say this, but to me it looked like Guehi to some extent stopped Donnarumma stepping back towards the ball. And that golden chance at the end. Guehi has been a brilliant signing - his only bad moments have been in the last two games unfortunately.

The manager is ultimately responsible, the buck stops with him,he decides tactics, style of play,he motivates players, bonds them together and ultimately relies on their respect for him.It makes me laugh when people say it’s not the managers fault,it’s the players,ok well let’s not bother having a manager then, send them all out and see how they get on.See how an orchestra performs without a conductor, the music they deliver is incomprehensible,it doesn’t work at all

Semenyo and Haaland would benefit from a counter attacking approach. Both fast but with poor first touches. So are we going to play like that? Not under Pep. And the thing is tiki taka is sort of ingrained in us and our academy.

I'd get rid of the two I've just mentioned and Doku as god knows what sort of tactics he is suited to.

To be honest I'd play Bernie as a false 9. Cherki has to play. Foden despite being well below par is at least a technically gifted player. And much though he's a lightweight Savinho is also technically proficient.
We can't play counter attacking football against an 11man low block.

Yeah we wasn't good enough didn't work there keeper enough either and our set-plays have been awful again this season

I reached the "acceptance stage" long time ago, even voiced here in no uncertain terms, there were moments when heart prevailed over head, but right now walking in back from the stadium I managed to discover the the stage " where on earth is this team going to?".
I see no rebuild, I see no team skeleton to build on, see bloody nothing, apart from the next five games that we are able to loose every single of them.
How on earth did he manage to get to the point, where he ended up with the most uncreative team of his career, where no player in able to stay on form for for two consecutive matches.
This is the team that manages to have 3-4 good games per season in the last two seasons, top four material at best.
Another reality check post! Very sad!

Cherki hasn't performed in two halves of the same match all season it's nothing to do with Ramadan.
Khusanov is Muslim but still performed for 90 mins plus.
I guess the sports science team decides how many minutes they should play during Ramadan. Some players break the fast on match days. Nasri said he didn’t fast during matches and training at the top level — and I think Salah has done the same.

Every team we play look fitter more organised and actually look like a team. We play so fucking sliw and boring.
Haaland doesn't more, we dont play a style that suits Haaland its so bizarre.

Im so bored of this slow style of letting the opposition get back into their shape before we more forward. Just way do we do it ?
There is definitely something about fitness with us. The back room really needs an overhaul. Don’t get me started with the guy stealing a living as set piece coach too

Well, I think we played well without any luck around their box. West Ham did not touch us. Their goal was a goalkeeping error.
We just needed one ball to full kindly for us in the box. Also, their goalie had a great game.
I know this goes against the view of most on here, but it's the way I saw it.
You're wrong mate,

Did you honestly see us scoring a second, the first was a fluke too.

All that posessoon and we didn't open them up.

Their keeper didn't make a save of note.

15 corners they dealt with easily.

It was terrible, this was West Ham who are shit and probably getting relegated.

They had the best opportunity to win it when Bowen broke through but for poor decision making.

Their goal, jesus fucking christ.

Where were the bodies putting themselves on the line?

It actually smelt a bit like arrogance from us.

All things considered, that was one of the worst showings this season. At Madrid we had more chances of scoring a couple than we had tonight.

It's back to square 1 for Tuesday which will probably end up with us going out, so back even further in picking a team for the LC Final.

You can't honestly say any of tonights starting 11 should start next Sunday.

Every team raises their game for us. Even TAA said Madrid set out to work harder against us than for any other team, after the Madrid game.
