I agree. Besides, Gomez gets game time ahead of Lewis in the last couple of months, so I would expect him to start if we are to rotate. Especially after his impressive performance vs Sheffield.

Lewis will get caught out under pressure. We don’t want to make this game any harder than needed. Stones and Philips might work.

Kaz - you obviously don't remember that great Everton footballing side under Moyesy. He would never revert to the long game. Football purist, our Davey. They won't be bothered about 'getting stuck in' either.

I'd start off strong on wednesday night, and if we're going well at HT (say, at least 2 goals up) get the stiffs subs on for the second half and get the likes of Dias, Rodri, Erling and Gundo off.

You're having a laugh. The only way we make 5 subs at around the 70th minute will be if 5 players suddenly double over ill on the pitch and even then Pep likely would have them carry on.

Actually, I don't think it was the simple number of subs that was the mistake. It was that he sent that all on in a fairly short space of time. That created anarchy.

That's why I originally said 70 minutes. Pep realised that he'd made them to early

But that's my point, really. The players on the pitch had been playing acceptably up to then. Suddenly Días, for example, started making uncharacteristic blunders (although he was pretty poor yesterday, to be fair). It was as if those who had been brought on hadn't had time to adjust to the system in place. And the balls they were playing were catching players already there on the wrong foot.
It was overload — too many, in too short a time. I'm convinced he will have learnt from it.
