West ham Vs City Post Match Thread

Our good friend in the Middle East, Richard Keys, has been banging his jungle drums for quite a while now that things are not good behind the scenes with the players. He wont give details but he started this stance after he had Yaya in the studios couple of months ago when he gave him a birthday cake. He did suggest there was a bit of papering over the cracks going on.
Reality though is that expectations and standards are high at City, you'd expect nothing else with the money invested in the club both in players and facilities. Quite rightly fans expectations have risen, we are not the City of 10 or 20 years ago when we could just shrug our shoulders.
On a very short term basis, 5 of our next 6 games are at home and we need to win them all, then perhaps we can move on

He is annoyingly smug but, in fairness, he seems to be well-informed on such issues. Gray has mellowed a bit as well.

If there is something wrong, then it's a matter for Pellers to sort out. Mancini got slammed for this apparent dressing room strife and MP is not immune.

There is no room for second chances now. Anymore below par results [forget performances for now] and the season will be no more than a recovery operation, i.e., aim to finish second. Any more cock ups and Pellers will be on that special plane to Abu Dhabi come the international break.

Anyone know the EDS leftback?looked brilliant every time I've watched them.Certainly an option given how shit Clichy and Kolarov have looked this season

Angelino, while he has great potential,is still a child, who would get destroyed in the Prem.He needs more time yet.

I'm not quite sure about that and in any case those two are being destroyed in the prem as well so it wouldn't be a bad idea to give him a chance on Wednesday......

I just want to get City back to winning way. This was our winning team in opening day 0-2 winning match agaist newcastle.goals by Silva and Aguero.
Manchester City
01 Hart
22 Clichy
04 Kompany Booked
26 Demichelis Booked
11 Kolarov Booked
08 Nasri (Milner - 78' )
06 Fernando Booked
42 Y Touré
21 Silva Booked
10 Dzeko (Agüero - 83' )
35 Jovetic (Fernandinho - 73' )
Substitutes
05 Zabaleta
07 Milner
13 Caballero
15 Jesús Navas
16 Agüero
25 Fernandinho
38 Boyata

Am I the only one who really doesn't rate navas? He's a bit of a one trick pony. The rest of the team has great ability and a change in attitude is needed but I feel we can do better than navas. I'd be looking to upgrade him in the summer

Morning lads. What a fantastic game of football, regardless of the result. The gap between the out-of-this-world city of our matches last year has been closed, at least for those 90 minutes!

I applauded my team off at half-time saying that if we did nothing second half I would go home happy,m however it just got better - you watch your team every week so are the better to judge whether you underperformed or whether on the day we were just a bit better in key areas.

Song had the game of his life I think in the middle, and with him alongside Noble never gave your middle two/three any time, with or without that ball.

The two up front Sakho & Valencia were niggling and narking all day long

Ref had a very poor game- particularily first half- everyone is raving about the aguero "stam" ; but i think it was 50/50- however how Kompany stayed on the pitch and didnt get second yellow a couple of times i do not know....also stone wall penalty in the 92 minute.

Anyways...motm- Silva. what an absolute beast of a player, ghosts in and out the action, sublime, ridiculous...you lucky fuckers get to see him every game

My one negative is that we gave chelsea cunst a leg-up today- plenty of points still left, keep the faith.

cheers

Is 4-4-2 the real problem? I ask because we were two up in Moscow playing 4-4-2 and in the week leading up to the derby it's worth remembering we won 6-1 in a certain game playing with two up front (Sergio and Mario). We also won 6-1 at Norwich in the same season with Sergio and Tevez up front.
The problem seems to be the four we choose in midfield and perhaps the opposition we choose to play it against.
Navas is a winger, and while he'll track back and offer some protection to the full back he won't offer much defensively if the opposition play right through the middle passing it round the less mobile Yaya. He also doesn't worry defences enough, failing when he get near the box. - Not every time of course, but too often yesterday, in Moscow and against Spuds.
The whole point about 4-4-2 is that it only works if the front two are quick and receive the ball early when in good positions, and also have support from midfield. The midfield also have to be very mobile as they have a lot to do.
That way the 4-4-2 team can dictate play. If they waste or don't create chances then they risk being caught because the opposition will keep few men back.
4-4-2 means moving the ball well for 90 minutes and we often look to be capable of it. But not yesterday nor against the better European teams.

Nope... I don't necessarily not rate him, but I don't think he's good enough... There is a difference (I think)

West Ham deserve the win they worked harder played better and SAMs game plan worked to a tee.. Kompany and song should of been sent off for 2 yellows but rather have a referee that doesn't send players of and try to keep 11 vs 11 think West Ham will finish top 8 no problem and if the players can stay fresh maybe top 6

A fair assessment of the game I think. Thanks

Always liked west ham but disliked BFS, but West Ham did what hey had to do and did it well.

As for your final comment... Don't think you've played them yet have you... Just play that well against them and you might make good the damage done.
