What book are you reading now / or recommend?

Just finished a little light reading 'The Holocaust: A new History' by Laurence Rees. It develops the belief now generally accepted by historians of the subject that it wasn't a long-term premeditated strategy to carry out mass murder of the Jews (and others including Roma/Sinti) but came about largely via individual initiatives that were driven by events.
Have an aversion to reading books like these as they're heartbreaking but honest question, is there a good historical lesson in it?

Won't watch it tbh, love Feist but the books won't work on the screen.
I can see what you mean, no idea how they can possibly portray some of feists imagination from those books. It’s not like it’s game of thrones, a lot of it is just pure imagination fantasy. Even so, I’ll most definitely watch it.

I'll leave it to you mate, not for me. Say hi to Tomas and Pug for me.

I read Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol to put me in festive spirits ahead of Christmas. Both excellent. Also The Hirelings, which was free with Audible, and less good.

I listen to the odd Sherlock Holmes mystery when out jogging or in the gym, and am about to turn to a Terry Pratchett book - probably Dodger, which I've read and enjoyed. Also for light hearted enjoyment at this time of year are William Horwood's Willows series.

On my Kindle, I've just completed Playing for England by David Black - one man's account of his life as a soldier and selection for the SAS. It's OK, but there are better autobiographies about this topic.

James Herbert: Others.

A supernatural horror(?)

I don't usually pick up JH's books but this one was lying in the giveaway box in the office Canteen.

I quite enjoyed it tbh. Stephen King-esque but with a bit more "whoosh" on its pace.

Really enjoyed the development of the main character.
