What book are you reading now / or recommend?

Can reccomend red rising by Pierce Brown,sci-fi with a difference.
A bit like the Hunger games according to a few reviews I read.(I've not read the hunger games)
Also recently finished Brian Mcllelans 2nd book in the Powder mage trilogy. It was excellent even better than the first.

700+ pages into The Stand by Steven King. What an immense book. Read it. Asap.

The Stand should warm you up for The Dark Tower series. I don't know how much King you've read but many of his books interlink and Captain trips and it's aftermath appear in this series too. Great seven books

I thought he got a bit up his own arse with the Dark Tower series.

I went right off it when he wrote himself into the books, and didn't bother reading any further

Agree I loved the stand but lost interest in the Dark Tower. I might return to it some day as I gave up midway through the first one (gunslinger).

My book recommendation would be Porno by Irvine Welsh. It's the follow up to Trainspotting and is a brilliant read.

The gunslinger was only ever intended as a short story. He went back to it years later and developed the character and the dark tower storyline. The next few books were pretty good, but I lost any interest for the reason stated in the spoiler.

I absolutely loved the Dark Tower series from start to finish. Cowboys, vampires, robots, the Mafia and a crazy train. Whats not to like?

Enjoyed 'The wind through the keyhole' too. A new Dark Tower novel.

Has anyone read Neil Gaimans American Gods? Thinking of giving it a read next.

The only Neil Gaiman book I've ever read was a collaboration he did with Terry Pratchett called Good Omens. A parody of Omen and quite a few more too. Absolutely piss funny from start to finish.

Loved IT and The Stand, in fact loved all kings earlier stuff including, Carrie, Salem lot and Christine

I'm reading - a wanted man - jack reacher by Lee Child - something not too taxing for my holidays

Anyone read any Robert crais books

I'll grant you that when he wondered off on that tangent it got very weird but I was determined to see it through and liked the rest of it thereafter

All lee childs jack reacher books are grear reads, great character. Tom cruise in the film ffs.

As for the stand, what a book! First time I read it I struggled for the first couple of hundred pages cause it flicked between so many characters but the last 500 or so pages couldn't put it down, I was young tho (14) when I first read it. Like a lot of kings earlier work. Bachman books are good, the long walk particularly.

Used to be a big fan of dean koontz, again his earlier work, twighlight eyes, lightning to name a couple.

John saul has done some good books, monster prob his best.

Currently reading the dexter series, loved the tv show, they're different to the show but I am liking them

I could go on but I think this post is long enough

I picked it up a while back but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. If you do, let us know :)

Just finished The Twelve by Stuart Neville. Was pretty good, going to read the next one now.
