What if we just went with Delap, Jesus, and Torres?

Tin hat time.
Delap will get two League cup games if he's lucky. Pep will never throw youngsters into the first team, he always goes for tried and tested. He'll be another Sancho scenario, albeit a few years older.
Not convinced with Torres, looks world class one game then a poor version of Ricky Holden the next.
Maybe I'm just turning into a miserable twat but the prospect of Kane/Grealish on huge fees and wages does not appeal to me either. If that's all that's available, keep the powder dry rather than spending for spendings sake.

Phil Foden likes this post.

Navas was 28 when he came to City, Torres is just 21, wait until he is 28 before comparing his career to Navas's.
Agreed. Torres has got fantastic potential. It's difficult to predict what level he can achieve. For example Jesus has not kicked on as much as I thought he would though I still rate him as an excellent player for us and Brazil. Torres has great technical skills and is a much better finisher than Raheem. But Raheem works twice as hard and that brings its rewards.

I agree with this apart from the last paragraph, which I couldn’t disagree with more.

The point I was trying to get at when I said Pep will never throw youngsters into the first team. Foden was gradually introduced which appears to have reaped it's rewards.
So Phil was gradually introduced and has 124 first team appearances and 31 goals before hitting 21 years of age. Not to mention 9 England caps and 2 goals.

I would hate to estimate how many goals and appearances he would have had if he had been thrown in at the deep end?

We will probably not retain the league with that Delap as the only striker. Standing still and relying on the same tactics as last season, would be naive to think it will work again in to the new season.
Sure we have a lad called Jesus, a hard working skillful striker that for some reason people on here hate nearly as much as Sterling.

But yeah we only have Delap.

We would still have a fantastic team that won the league and got to the champions league final last season. It really wouldn’t be the disaster some people are making it out to be.
Problem is Chelsea, Rags, Dippers (VDK and Gomez back) will be a lot stronger and we'll have stood still. We need to sign a 20 goal striker to improve the team. This team makes chances so we need someone to put them away. If cant find anyone then we should risk it and go with Delap or Torres.

Yes he was. The fact he only just qualified for a medal in the 17/18 season shows how little game time he got. 1266 premier League minutes by the age of 20 is the equivalent of 14 games. I'd say that was gradual.

Played about 30 minutes more league football for us than Dias!

You're one of the very few on here who calls Gabriel Jesus a striker. He even doesn't sees himself as a striker. But yeah, you can call him that.

That goes in the stats can prove anything category. The fact is he was brought in gradually, was often left out of the big games and/or made many fleeting sub appearances.
