What is everybody's best local day out from the area

Aye…..but you don’t mention the midges or the pubs with keg beer.
What’s this wonderful beach an hour from Glasgow? I have so many photos of myself and my two sisters “chittering and shivering” on various Scottish beaches enjoying the warm sea water.
The only one we ever enjoyed was St Andrews in Fife.

Midges are barely an issue most of the time and there's loads of nice sandy beaches around Ayr/Prestwick/Troon

I’ve been to all those beaches and the water is bloody freezing. Too cold even for the midges who prefer the campsites and lochs in the Highlands.
It must be the most difficult job there is - promoting the idea that Scottish beaches are worth visiting. OK for dog walkers well wrapped up in winter clothing.
The beaches in Cornwall are superb - beautiful sand and warm water.

Haven't been in 11 years since I emigrated!
I haven’t been back since 2008. I wouldn’t know Manchester now. They always say “Never go back” as you will only remember the great times and the present day Manchester will never live up to those distant happy memories.
I do miss Manchester but I guess that all the things that I loved about the City that I knew are all gone.
Like getting a haircut from Harry Peters for a few quid.
Bargain vinyl from Powercuts and Church Street Market.
Curry at the Shezan in Rusholme
Italian at Don Antonio’s in Withington
Hitchcock films at the Aaben Cinema in Hulme
Gigs at the Continental Club
Longsight Market
That’s enough nostalgia. Best thing since I left in 2007……
HOW SHIT ARE MANCHESTER UNITED

Yes I did leave a small detail of the weather out. Plus goes without saying it shouldn’t be attempted without the correct equipment.

Yes indeed, path runs out before you reach the crash site, so you're relying on some form of guidance tech (maps to FOC's). On a side note, my daughter recently bought me a bright orange tee shirt for when I go hobbling around the countryside, on the basis that I'm bound to get lost at some point so I'll be easier to find. I take 3 things from this

She knows me so well
She doesn't know English weather very well as the Tee shirt will be covered 99% of the time
She must like me at least a little bit

Well, usually you go when it's warm....

You're right though, the midges don't tend to go swimming there.
