What is everybody's best local day out from the area

Tyninghame is very nice but so is Belhaven Beach and Yellowcraig Beach to the West and East. A wee drive to the Trossachs is very pleasant and the Dukes Pass is a cracking drive and picnic spot overlooking loch Katrine and Venachar. Choices choices.
I love the Yorkshire Dales, particularly Wensleydale and Swaledale and a walk along the Swale from Richmond to Easby Abbey is heaven.
Rutland water, not just for the fishing but for the walks amongst bluebells in Hambleton Woods and trips to the flesh pots of Stamford
;-).

Doing Bleaklow on Sunday for the 1st time. My route starts in Glossop. Love getting out walking in and around the Peak District. We live in marple too so fairly local.
Try a pint or some lunch in queens on the way back down lovely pub. We’re doing the route tomorrow via doctors gate, . And a pint on the way home.

The moors where I live doing a big walk tomorrow to bleaklow head to show mrs snake the crash site of the B-29 bomber which was tragically named over exposed , the views are stunning but when you get to the site it’s very somber, anyone who fancies doing the walk go from glossop and not from the top of the snake pass as the walk is absolutely amazing great views of the metropolis of M/CR.

Did this for the first time a few weeks back, not so much of a view though as it was low cloud and pissing down, very sombre place indeed, especially in that sort of weather

Quarry Bank Mill, Styal village and woods area. It has been a favourite place for our family since the late 1960s.

Plus anywhere in the Lake District. The enjoyment I’ve had climbing and walking those mountains sometimes keeps me going now I can no longer do it.

I recommend walking and climbing to everyone who can. The Peak District has many wonderful walks.
I went on a bike ride down to Styal just after the first lockdown...a 30 mile round trip back to Salford. I used to ride down there a lot when i was a kid living in Wythenshawe. Under that airport runway tunnel. It was good to go back and see the place again after all the years.

Heptonstall is a very interesting place if you like that sort of (gothic) thing.

A rather pleasant trip out is to catch a train to Crewe and then the local to Wrenbury. From there it's an agreeable walk to the Bhurtpore Inn for excellent beer and curry.

Another nice trip is Skipton. For preference, take the old road from Colne which is very scenic. Skipton has excellent fish and chip restaurants and pubs, notably the Woolly Sheep, which is a Taylor's house.
Also worth a shout is the dusty Miller in Wrenbury, on the canal.
You're right about Skipton, ive been in the woolly several times, great pub.
Skipton also has an excellent market, lots of local produce. our kid lives in the nearby village of Carleton. Lovely part of the country.

Lymm is quite nice and not too far from Manchester either. We went a couple of years ago and had a walk around it and the pond in the centre is really nice. We took a stroll down the canal, back towards Manchester and our son loved it on his bike. Everyone was very friendly as well, it was really nice.

We also did a bit of a scramble up to Gladdings Dam (Todmorden way) which is really...strange! It's a reservoir on the top of a 'mountain' (as our son calls it) and it has a beach up there! Honest!

It's well worth a walk up and it's totally unexpected. I know it sounds strange, but it's the only place I've ever seen a duck on the beach!

We also love Hollingworth Lake near Littleborough. I like to think of it as the 'seaside' as it has arcades, chippy, bit of a beach, play area for kids, pubs, restuarants, ice creams - everything Blackpool has :) The walk around the lake is just right and it's a great place to visit.
