What Year Did You First Use Internet?

It was about 1994/5, like Stony I bought my first desktop PC from PC World cost around £1200 and I thought it was the bollocks. The tower that came with it weighed a bloody ton and when the fan kicked in it sounded like a jet engine. I had to run the phone wire from upstairs and unplug the phone downstairs so I could connect to the net, if I left the phone plugged in and it rang it cut the connection off.
 
17th July 1994. At my mates house during the world Cup final. Didn't think much of the Internet or the game that day.

Never really played Elite, closest I got was when we were doing O'levels/A'Levels (shows my age) mid 1980s we had a supply teacher for maths . We had BBC's in the maths room and my mate loaded it up . Just got as far a seeing the wire frame graphics and maybe a ship launched . Then the Deputy head (miserable bastard) came in turned all the computers off. Gave a algebra test to the supply and we had to do that instead.
Got Frontier Elite 2 on the first day it was launched for the Amiga though. Loved playing that.
 
October 1988 - I was posted up to Edinburgh University on a training course - they were fully signed up to the JANET which was an academic network linked across to the Americans, the global ubiquitous Internet as we know it today didn't really exist - but we did have a proper working email address too firstname.lastname@ed.ac.uk

I was also using internal email at ICL in about 1984 - an old system called EXAC. If there are any old school ICL'ers on here they may remember it.
