What's the most trouble you've witnessed following City?

Blackpool away when the roof got ripped down and used for missiles was a bit hairy. Oldham away when the ladder appeared was chaotic and Stoke away when it rained rocks was no fun at all.

Papers called that Oldham game "Bad Good Friday"
A totally lawless afternoon

I started in the long stand opposite, was then behind the goal and then in the ladder stand. I'd say that most aways in the 70's and 80's were at least potentially dodgy, with guarenteed trouble at all the above, and many with smaller amounts that went unreported as it was "normal". Every club had a crew, and it was only a case of how bad it was, rather than did it go off. Everton away in the cup was one that i kept my mouth shut all the way to the car. Junior Blues coach to Leeds about 79, Helen looked after us, aged 14 and a bit bewildered. Possibly Mickey Francis getting his name called out by his mates when next to Leeds fans. European fans ( 1977-1979 ) got jumped coming out of the North stand virtually every game, then they put a barrier up and we had to walk all the way round.

Where do you start?

Blackpool away when the roof was ripped down and City took over the town.
Oldham away when the ladders were used inside the stadium.
Chelsea at home when they had all the Platt Lane.
Coventry at home in the FA Cup.
Stoke away when both teams where relegated.
Boro at home when they tried to take the North Stand.
Luton when we got relegated and Pleat ran on to the pitch.
Spurs at home in the FA Cup when the horses where brought on the pitch.
Millwall at home when they tried to storm the North stand and the Police battered them.
Cardiff away in the FA Cup.
United home and away on numerous occasions.
Under the stand at Barnsley.
The list goes on and on

Most high profile matches at Maine Road always had plenty of trouble on Claremont Road. Loads of City fans would always wait on the junction of Kippax Street and Claremont road for the away fans to come out or to be escorted out. The Police would then try and push the City fans further down Claremont road using hoses and police charges.

TBF in the 80's and early 90's trouble was a weekly occurrence no matter where uou went.

birmingham at home was madness outside the superstore (maine rd)

coventry at maine rd in the cup, i got twatted of a coventry fan i was only 15

newcastle at maine rd but it went of outside the clarence and albert in rusholme

seen loads vs the rags with wembley probably being the worse

my dad tells me loadsa tails from his hooligan days back in the day, it didnt sound like a nice place to be in the 70's

Leeds away 72 on way back to station after Willie equalised!

Absolutely my worst day in football in over 40 years of watching City .....

absolutely terrifying on that two mile run back to the station following that game ... and it WAS a run!

No coppers anywhere , and i've never seen so many yobs hell bent on trouble in my life ... had a scarf nicked , and a bottle missed my head by a matter of inches outside the train station .

Loads of people on the city special were injured .... the few coppers that were about just deserted us and allowed the Leeds hoolies to run riot.

Other bad days came at Newcastle in the cup , in the 80's ..... and a pitched battle near the coaches after a 2-2 draw at Spurs one year in the 70's.

Glad it wasnt just me!
We had moved to Sheffield from Denton and it was my first visit to Elland Road,I was only 11 and my dad was a hero that day,hes from Gorton so explains why he didnt seem to give a shit when someone tried to nick my scarf.
I on the otherhand had to change my underpants when I got home.
Coppers just escorted us to the Leeds mob and then left us,I actually think they enjoyed doing it.

When Millwall brought about 3000 in the nineties I think.

Leeds away in Cup in late 70's

FA cup final reply in 81, intruders in our end
That millwall mob was unreal, I turned a corner onto Lloyd St to be faced with a thousand 40 something cockneys all foaming at the mouth with about 6 coppers trying to contain them and about 15 city in hot pursuit, mental!

We was in town when we heard a rumour that Millwall had got off at Stockport to evade the police and run riot on Edgeley high street. We didnt believe it untl the police came into the Whitworth boozer and said you better leave 2000 Millwall are in a police escort ready to cause carnage, He wasn't wrong. It was just as bad afterwards on Wilmslow Road after the game when city fans ran riot and started looting all the shops.

Other than Stoke away when we got relagated the most trouble has been against United. When we beat them 3-1 last derby at Maine Road. We was in the Abbey pub a couple of hours later when a couple of hundred United tried storming the pub, luckily the police intercepted them as we wouldnt have stood a chance as most blues had already gone.
Somehow I got involved with walking with a few blues back from Old Trafford to Maine Road after us drawing 1-1 when Steve Howey scored. I didnt realise there was a planned meet up near the Sherwood with United. It was mayhem, i got chased across Whitworth Park with bricks flying at me, luckily i managed to jump into a cab.

The scariest was after us beating them 2-1 for the 50th anniversary of Muncih. We was in a minibus (ironically passing our own stadium) on the way back, when a transit van passed and threw a bucket of piss at our bus. The traffic lights turned red, which was the cue for a few city fans to run off the bus and head for the Transit. the back doors suddenly opened and a group of reds piled out with hammers and other tools. One crazy bloke was swinging a hammer and smacking the mini bus threatening anyone who had the balls to come near him. Glsd to get ou of that unscathed.

They came unstuck in the science park not long after that incident !

I think the potential rape far outweighs the rag part hon (O:

Stoke away 96/97 - year of relegation

Got a brick in my head, zimmer senior wasn't best pleased and did his own impression of rambo!!
I got a brick on my head at that game.
The police held all the City fans back in the coach park and let the Stoke fans stand at the top of the hil and empty a building site on us!

I was sat in the Stoke end with my uncle's. First time I sat in an away end so didnt know what to expect. I can remember the stoke fans not watching the game but looking for city fans throughout the game. By the time the first couple of goals went in and people jumped up it kicked off. Outside the ground it was mad. I got punched by a bloke twice my age about six times and ended up hiding under a car over the bypass across from the ground. Missile's were being launched everywhere. I was only 16.

barnsley away at half time was scary, as i was only quite young, coventry at maine rd in the cup when goater scored 90minute winner turned ugly, also leeds in the fa cup at maine road there was trouble all over the place, just a couple of the top of my head

Coventry in the FA Cup for me. It could've easily have been prevented had they not moved that line of Coppers yet they were free to invade the Main Stand when we got our late winner. Alot of Blues capable of dealing with the Coventry shithouses were stuck in the Kippax and helpess.

I'm not a violent Guy but would have got stuck in had we not been ran down Claremont Road by Police on Horseback. What they did was cowardly.
