What's the most trouble you've witnessed following City?

If the OP isn't a rag, I'm the pope. Check his posts.

I did and found nothing to suggest he is anything other than a Blue to be honest.

His words 'taunting rags'.

We was in town when we heard a rumour that Millwall had got off at Stockport to evade the police and run riot on Edgeley high street. We didnt believe it untl the police came into the Whitworth boozer and said you better leave 2000 Millwall are in a police escort ready to cause carnage, He wasn't wrong. It was just as bad afterwards on Wilmslow Road after the game when city fans ran riot and started looting all the shops.

Other than Stoke away when we got relagated the most trouble has been against United. When we beat them 3-1 last derby at Maine Road. We was in the Abbey pub a couple of hours later when a couple of hundred United tried storming the pub, luckily the police intercepted them as we wouldnt have stood a chance as most blues had already gone.
Somehow I got involved with walking with a few blues back from Old Trafford to Maine Road after us drawing 1-1 when Steve Howey scored. I didnt realise there was a planned meet up near the Sherwood with United. It was mayhem, i got chased across Whitworth Park with bricks flying at me, luckily i managed to jump into a cab.

The scariest was after us beating them 2-1 for the 50th anniversary of Muncih. We was in a minibus (ironically passing our own stadium) on the way back, when a transit van passed and threw a bucket of piss at our bus. The traffic lights turned red, which was the cue for a few city fans to run off the bus and head for the Transit. the back doors suddenly opened and a group of reds piled out with hammers and other tools. One crazy bloke was swinging a hammer and smacking the mini bus threatening anyone who had the balls to come near him. Glsd to get ou of that unscathed.

They came unstuck in the science park not long after that incident !

I was in the Abbey that night and yes the Science Park was like something out of Zulu, they were not expecting that!

Leeds away 72 on way back to station after Willie equalised!

Absolutely my worst day in football in over 40 years of watching City .....

absolutely terrifying on that two mile run back to the station following that game ... and it WAS a run!

No coppers anywhere , and i've never seen so many yobs hell bent on trouble in my life ... had a scarf nicked , and a bottle missed my head by a matter of inches outside the train station .

Loads of people on the city special were injured .... the few coppers that were about just deserted us and allowed the Leeds hoolies to run riot.

Other bad days came at Newcastle in the cup , in the 80's ..... and a pitched battle near the coaches after a 2-2 draw at Spurs one year in the 70's.

Glad it wasnt just me!
We had moved to Sheffield from Denton and it was my first visit to Elland Road,I was only 11 and my dad was a hero that day,hes from Gorton so explains why he didnt seem to give a shit when someone tried to nick my scarf.
I on the otherhand had to change my underpants when I got home.
Coppers just escorted us to the Leeds mob and then left us,I actually think they enjoyed doing it.

What game is this exactly? I knew City's record at Elland Road in the early to mid 70's was piss poor and the excellent Man City stats backs this up.

1970-71 Lost 0-1
1971-72 Lost 0-3
1972-73 Lost 0-3
1973-74 Lost 1-0

Not even a single City goal? Yet Mamba mentions trouble after we draw level. Sorry to be picky I'm just a little confused?

Edit - upon further investigation a 2-2 draw was played at Elland Road with Willie scoring on the 1st March 1975.

I assume this is the game?

i remember watching city fans rioting down the back of the kippax at half time against everton in the early eighties, that was a proper eye opener, coppers being dragged off horses, absolute bedlam

You sure that wasn't the Platt Lane stand, midweek game in spring 83? We played the rags on the Saturday after
I was sat in the middle, the Toffee twats had come into the stand at the last minute and congregated at the front in the corner where the away fans stood in the Kippax.
The City boys followed them in and sat right at the back. The next thing, after a few minutes, Everton had a good chance and their fans jumped up thinking they had scored.
Then the City lads ran over the benches, led by Mikey (can't recall his surname) and the Toffee twats were smacked good and proper. They tried to climb the fence to get onto the pitch but were dragged down and given a hiding. The police horses came onto the pitch but were the wrong side of the fence!

Worst I ever saw though was West Ham at home, big number in the Main Stand and the meeting up on Maine Road after and charging down.... I was the last to get into the side entrance of the social club before the doors were shut! Those left outside got a hiding.
The following year, they tried it again but Moss Side turned out in force and they were smacked all over the place, wearing yellow Slazenger jumpers which gave them away!
might of been the same game, i also recall everton in the platt lane early eighties, but this rioting went on at the back of the kippax inside the ground, i remember watching it from the steps that led down thinking this is fucking chaos; dibble were getting tattered, i remember west ham in there diamond pringles too lol

The 2nd year when they turned up with the yellow jumpers, they were getting thumped all around the social club / City Chippy area.
Two of them tried walking discretely away but stood out like the proverbial sore thumb in the jumpers.
They were chased up Maine Road in the direction of the city centre (when the road wasn't blocked off for the school) and then made the stupid error of turning left and running along the path from Maine Road to Lloyd Street - the path had houses on one side and the high wire fence around the school playing field on the other side, so we could see the whole chase take place. Unbeknown to the 2 Cockney's, Blues had also been running up Lloyd Street and waited for them at their end of the path. The Cockney's stopped, saw in front of them a small mob, checked behind them and there was a bigger mob....
Carnage then took place!

chelsea steaming out of the main stand in the eighties,, it was a friday night game, they took over the ground, live on tele too i think? that was scary

lets just say there were fireworks!!

For me (32 yrs old), i remember Vs Spurs @ home in FA cup live on BBC. They let both sets of fans out at the same time. Behind Kippax / north stand at full time was mayhem, from what i can remember but was only young.

Like many my age (28) the most I've seen is Birmingham and Milwall at home, as well as the time 40 odd Boro nutters stormed the North Stand around 97(?) Coventry I remember well in FAA Cup; I remember about 3/4 lads running over the pitch from the kippax to join the fray, egging others on! They disappeared in the melee but always wondered what happened to em!

Actually the most trouble I've ever seen was when alty played Bishop Auckland around 1997. There was some bad blood from a tackle that nearly bankrupt Bishop Auckland, after a legal claim. Anyway the match was abandoned with police horses on pitch. They had brought a bus load of Boro or Sunderland hooligans and kicked off all over town , trashing shops and attacking cops, and even raided the changing rooms. Last I remember was 3 alty lads chasing a "Geordie bastard" into alty station for revenge! Can't find much reference to it online but believe me was the worst I've seen!

Chelsea at Maine Rd,night match 84,second to last home game, absolute mayhem from afternoon onwards, some of them even turned up at the Cyprus Tavern later on,didn't do so well there though.Mobs of them in Platt Lane,North Stand and Main Stand.Next time we played them was an eleven in morning kick off on a Saturday two seasons later
