Strange this because when I go through Cheetham Hill these days I just find it like going home and feel comfortable. Maybe it is just rose tinted glasses though, as my early schooldays were spent around there and am now just passing through.

I find the Dickybird estate in Bury much more depressing.

I work with teenagers from the gorton, openshaw and clayton areas aged between 11 and 16 years old and it is scary what the future holds.
Unfortunately there are far to many wanna be gangsters in manchester and certain kids i speak to think its a great life to lead.
So i would say there are plenty of rough areas in manc whether its north,south or east.

Moston has a habit of young kids using blades.

Does it? I mean I've been in Moston 19 years and apart from that lad stabbed on Moston Lane, I've never really been aware of a problem.
Not saying you are wrong, I'm just not aware of it.

Obviously places like Longsight, Cheetam Hill and Moss Side usually get a mention when thinking of some of Manchester's roughest areas but what areas are the roughest in the surrounding areas.

Having grew up in Rochdale some of the worst areas I seen where Bacup, Darnhill in Heywood, Newbold in Rochdale, Langley in Middleton and an area of Bury I can't remember the name of.

Dickiebird? Rough as a bears arse. The Springs on the way down towards Gigg Lane is rough too.

No rose tints or fuck all, Moston/Harpurhey is the scummiest place in Manchester. I worked there for years its full of subhuman oxygen theifs. I fucking detest the place. It makes me shudder just thinking about going back to that cess pit full of them scabby tramps.

The overspill estates usually get the worst press..... so take your pick from
Langley, Partington, Hattersley, Brinnington, Little Hulton and then there's Wivvy!

However, equally there are other places such as Adswood, Broughton, Harpurhey / Monsall that get bad press too.

ha my Dads from Brinnington 'brinneh' , my aunite/uncle from Hattersley... and grandparents from 'Wivvy' but yeh beautiful places, but i definatly agree about brinny, absolute shithole
