That's pretty bizarre considering Gold didn't want Austin because of his injury record.

IIRC at the time he had played a handful of first team games at best but wanted wages of around £60k p.w and City told him to prove himself first. Bear in mind he was only 18/19 at the time and this was six or seven years ago.
