Where did this season go so wrong?

have been undecided up till now but im goin with the opinion of a bad summer strengthening the squad think many of us thought we would push on with a couple of good signings. and our manager who i believe has failed this far to get the best out of our players this campaign along with some bad tactics in games and the hunger and desire to keep the players going

Aside from us losing NDJ and AJ in the summer, which is really being felt now, we have been far too complacent against teams that work very hard defensively and have killed our free-scoring play of last season. Definately suffering being "champions and everyone wants to beat us" syndrome.
I can understand why RM wants to us to play 3-5-2 at times but he needs to get our players competent and comfortable with that formation. Much more work neded on the training ground. If we can't adapt to play in different formations with the resources we have, then it really does highlight how limited we are tactically.
However we still have a lot to play for this season; consolidate second place keeping a degree of pressure on Utd, hoping they run into some poor form (some hope I know!!) and the FA Cup for which we are only 3 games away from the final (one of those at home against lower league opposition).
Let's get behind the team, the season is far from over and we know these players are capable of some truly fantastic football of which I am sure we will see more of before the season is over.

Get behind what 'team'?! There was no 'team' out there. Some of us paid a large amount of money to watch that shower poncing about earning £100k .....................

I think the poster who mentioned Kun's injury got it spot on.
Kun being stretchered off was a catalyst to the team never really reaching the heights of last season, and agree he was probably rushed back too soon.
I feel the results in Europe tipped us over the edge after that. Hart's comments post Madrid game followed by Mancini's.
And NDJ should never have been allowed to leave.

Last summers transfer window, fundamental mistakes were made that have had negative impact upon the 1st team.

Bobby has also been tactically out thought as well this season. Last year no team could stop our free flowing attack. When opposition managers became aware of how to stop us we had no plan B.

We looked poor against Southampton in the first game and that was that really

FINALLY you wake up and smell the coffee! Stop living in la-la land and face the facts i've been banging on about for 18 months - all my constructive criticisms have come to fruition despite you constantly bleating on that I don't know what I'm talking about.....................

Its been a right F**K UP since the end of last season, transfer window in the summer, constant rotation, no pace or width, bizzare team selections, transfer window in January. In fact Typical City. And how the f**k did Milner get dropped on Saturday after his performance last week?????
Didn't think he played well against Liverpool myself
Completely agree. In the first half he was absolutely appalling. Actually played quite well in the second half, but unfortunately his tremendous effort and work rate often blind people to his second rate quality on the ball.
Would rather have tremendous work ethic and effort than some fucking prima donna superstar.

I understand your anger but we still have to get behind them. What's the alternative? boo them from now until the end of season?

There wasn't any real point where it went wrong, it's been shit from the start really. We were wank in the first couple of months and people kept saying that it's a long season and that it's ok that we look lethargic and unfit because we'll come good at the right time, but on saturday we looked just as awful. Champions league campaign was a disgrace. Going out of the carling cup at home to villa was very poor. We've as good as surrendered our title already in such a feeble and pathetic way. Abysmal season so far and we can't look at any one point of it as being the start, on the whole it's just been shit. So many times other teams have looked sharper, fitter and hungrier than us, including saturday, and we've just strolled about and taken it up the arse. Shcoking
