Yeah, I didn't want to hassle him for his autograph. Apparently it's just not the done thing if you're 'working' (for want of a better word. Most of the time you're just hanging about - Ricky Gervais's comedy got it spot on) with them.
Kenneth Cope was another I met. He was in the original Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, if anybody remembers that? Also turned up in Corrie a little while ago as Jed someone or other. That rascal Tony tried to bump him off!.
Keith Allen (Lily's dad) is a total prick. Loudmouthed and as ignorant as fuck.

But the worst I've ever met was John Alford, used to be in Grange Hill and then went on to London's Burning. Got stung for heroin dealing a few years back. Believe me, this man is a total and utter prick of the highest order. Intensely disliked on the set of London's Burning for his arrogance and overbearing nature.

Some others I had forgotten:-

Trevor Steven and Gary Stephens with their young families at Disneyland Paris early 90s I think. One of those where during the day we kept bumping into them. Spoke to Trevor Steven and he seemed a nice guy.

Vinnie Jones also at Disneyland Paris. Difference was he wasn't going round on his own like the other two. Instead he had the VIP escort treatment, jumping queues etc.

And the best one was seeing Peter Barnes when I was a kid and when he was at his peak at City. We'd gone for a family meal at a Chinese restaurant Barlow Moor Rd in Chorlton. In walked Peter with his girlfriend. He looked really shy and embarrassed. Brillaint for me as a kid, completely star struck.

Whilst working as an Army Recruiting Sgt in Birmingham a few years ago, I was stood on the balcony of the Pallasades having a smoke when I looked down into New Street across the road stood Tommy Docherty waiting for a cab. He looked up and shouted 'up the Villa'. I retorted nah City. "What you a Blues nose he says"? No, Man City I shouted back - ya Bastard he shouts laughingly. I just waved at him, he thanked me for my service to the country and I merely enjoyed the remainder of my B & H! Quality from a rag hey?

Another time I was being thrifty whilst shopping at that great 'No Frills' supermarket Kwik Save when in walked Andy Townsend shoppping for tit bits, what a tight fucker eh?

Ive also nearly came to blows with the Black Nosferatu himself 'Dwight Yorke' when he cut me up in his convertible whilst I was returning home - twat. I caught up with him in Sutton Coldfield and waited by his car, I didn't know it was him till he came out of the shop. I called him an arrogant **** and said next time I'd chin him - footy star or not!!

Had a few more but don't wanna bore you all ;-)

I've met or bumped into several "celebs" sporting or othewise when I used to live in Manchester. Pick of the bunch has to George Best (he was drinking alone in Waldorf Hotel) don't know if it still exists, around about 1978. Seen him a couple of times actually and didn't realise how small he was; seemed a nice bloke though. Stood in a dry cleaners off Deansgate with Frank Worthington while we're waiting for our suits or whatever; scruffy but looked like a classy bloke. Stood next to Tony Knowles in Henry's bar off Deansgate. He had two gorgeous blondes with him..lucky sod! Got on a plane to Ibiza years ago and Ron (or was it Paul) Futcher was on it with his wife and kid..stayed in same hotel as them. Last year I was in the queue for my ticket at East Midlands airport and in front of me was Stephen Hendry...Easyjet to Edinburgh. He seemed very normal, chatting to people; he went up in my estimation after that. The first celeb I ever saw was Bill Grundy. Got his autograph outside Maine Road in the late 60's. He was a big City fan and very friendly. Also got Mike Summerbees' autograph in a pub off Cross Street in mid 80's. Top bloke. When I worked at Placemate in the late 70's, Gary Davies was the DJ there (his uncle owned the place) and he was quite a nice bloke surprisingly. While I was there I served quite a few of the City players of the time, Nicky something, can't rembember his surname and Steve McKenzie. Enough already!

Paul Dickov at Manchester Airport, what a lovely man. I mistook him for someone I know slightly and said "Hya" and then immediately realised what I had done, blushed and apologised and he had a laugh with me about it.

Carlos Tevez on the train back from Fulham a couple of weeks ago, upgraded to First Class and fell asleep, woke up and CT was sitting opposite me!! I closed my eyes again cos I thought I was dreaming but it was the man. Again a lovely man and quite happy to have his photo taken and what a beautiful smile he has, it totally transforms his face.

I just wish I could bump into my all time hero Richard Dunne though. (waits for the brick bats!) :-)

Shauny Wright's son plays for Fletcher Moss Rangers and i coach one of the teams there. Sometimes see him there watching on saturdays when he isnt busy.
