I was at Old Crapford that day , in the United Road Paddock , but following that goal the atmosphere and hostility in that ground was a bit too tense for me to enjoy it .

For me it has to be .....

a) Dickovs equaliser in the play off v Gillingham .... 1999(was it?)

b) Powers free kick at Villa Park in the semi against Ipswich ... 1981

c) Hinchliffes goal (Citys 5th) v rags , Maine Road 1989

Forgot to add Christian Dailly's og against Blackburn in 2000, the one that put us 2-1 up and virtually ensured promotion. The second the ball hit the ground it just took an incredible spin and accelerated towards goal. The poor chap chased after it and ended up in the back of the net with it!

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

I look back at Laws backheel with a sense of happiness, but given the atmosphere of the day, I could'nt celebrate it. I stayed very quiet, and I'm glad I did after witnessing what some pretty nasty scenes after that goal went in.

The best goal for me has to be Dickov's at Wembley. After Gillingham scored their second goal, I was consumed by anger more than frustration, and I was sitting there with all those happy memories of cup triumphs flooding through my brain thinking it means nothing. Gillingham are better than City. I don't suppose I was alone with that sentiment, but I was angry. Not frustrated, very angry.

The thing is, I honestly had no idea their goal came so late on in the game, and equally, I had no idea Dickov's goal came after so much time had been added on. Anyway, I watched the goal go in, and I have never been so relieved in my life. I watched the game with a great friend I have known since we were at school together, which is now 40 years ago, and he always says he has never seen me smile like I did when that ball went in the net.

I have seen lots of great goals watching City over the years, but for sheer emotional rescue, that one stands head and shoulders above all the others.

Dickov's at Wembley, even though I didn't see it as I got forced to leave, heard him score it as we were walking out of the ground and the stewards let us back in, they didn't know what to do, was brilliant.
Also Fowler's last min equaliser at Eastlands, living in Liverpool made that pretty sweet.

Dickov's in the playoff final, closely followed by Benjani's goal against the filth at Colditz.

I don't think words could ever capture the euphoria of those goals. I was at both games and the emotion was just unreal.

Honourable mention should go to Big Phil's goal against Hamburg and of course Geo vs the Stretford Pinks.

Anyone remember Mark Kennedy's against West Brom at Maine Road? Season we went up to the Premiership with Royle, we went one down to a Lee Hughes wondergoal, then the Goat got the equaliser and Kennedy drilled home in front of the Platt Lane. The place fucking exploded.

For some reason Rosler against Wednesday at Maine Road the season we went down sticks out in my mind too.

Dickov's at wembley by a million miles.......

But......

Bishop's diving header in the 5-1

The Goat's first in the last ever Maine Road derby when he robbed Neville....... it was essential we won that match!!

and Berkovic vs Ipswich in the 4-1 FA cup win....... couldn't believe how pure that strike was!!!

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

Dickov at Wembley was excellent...was lucky to be there that day and the stories of City fans who left early and stopped the tube after hearing the goal..and then being escorted back into Wembley by the police still makes me laugh!

the one that always sticks is Trev's at Bradford - remember being lay on the couch at home as a 9 yr old listening on the radio and when it went in I remember having an uncontrollable fit which resulted in me ending up outside the house - still don't know what happened!! lol

magic stuff
