Which NFL team to support?

Oh I see - you mean cliched, ignorant opinions like 'most Brits don't have the patience for a game that lasts 3 hours'?
When our national summer sport is cricket, and was so when the average sherman was still wiping out it's troublesome indigenous population?
Is that the kind of cliched, ignorant opinion you meant?
Well,I wonder who could possibly resort to such a simplistic conclusion?

Hmmm, I didn't once say 'most Brits,' as that would be wrong. I did however say that a section of people lack the patience to watch for 3 hours and say the length of the game is a problem to them.

Tbh it isn't really the length of a game that is the problem for me - more the stop/start nature and lack of continuity.
I appreciate that they have commercial sponsors to please, but if you added all the actual action together,I would imagine a game would struggle to last beyond the hour.
It's a bit like a football match stopping for commercial breaks every time there is a throw in,free kick or corner.
Annoying as fuck.

The stop/start may be a problem for some as it's different from football and rugby (although there is a fair few stoppages in these sports i.e. freekicks, before scrums, kick in to touch), but no more than there is in tennis or cricket.

The adverts are just placed in between these stoppages, which is only when there is turnover, after touchdown, injury or timeout.

Alternatively, look out for College football which is a little faster.

I've started getting into it recently, anyone advise me on which team has a similar charateristics to that of City. Big, loyal fanbase, not been blessed with silverware for a while but on the up. Help would be appreciated.

Mate, Philadelphia Eagles is a team for you.

No Superbowl win since modern era (since Superbowl exists).

Always close (4 NFC championships and 1 superbowl appearances in last 8 years) but never over the top (yet).

Very European-like, crazy fan base (other americans dont like their emotions, these guys threw snowballs at Santa Clause during halftime at one of their bad games long time ago :-)

Hate between them and Dallas Cowboys ('america's team') is very comparable to City vs. Rags...

That's as close as you get.

Plus they have Mike Vick as their QB - who is one of the top 3 most exciting players to watch, ever :-)

Santa was drunk and he deserved it the fat wanker

But yeah the eagles are very city-esque, they manage to break my heart every year :(

All apart from the fact City wouldnt employ a violent ex criminal

I am going to have to disagree politely. Philadelphia fans, while passionate, are horrendous people haha. They pick fights, boo their team constantly, very unruly bunch. I personally see them as a liverpool type team. Haven't won a lot recently but always think that they should be. I'll have to think about who I think would be a good team to support. The Browns are also very city like.

Fair enough mate I understand and agree he did some terrible things. I think everyone deserves a second chance and he's done nothing wring since he's been back. Lots of people will never forgive him and fair play, but the way I see it the man did his time, paid his price and as long as he stays out of trouble should be afforded a second chance. I can see why others such as yourself would disagree, but hey, that's just me.

What do you think about stallworth and ray lewis, just out of curiosity? Many seem to ignore their "mistakes"

After further thinking, I would go with the Browns. They were good back in the 50's but since then have had a hard time getting things going. They even lost their team in 1996-1999 (sound familiar?) regrouped and got a team back out on the field in 2000. The teamed moved to Baltimore. Their fans though have always been real loyal, and eventually formed a new team. Their fans are quirky and working class and very negative. Same sort of fans.

In fairness Ray Lewis was before my time by a couple of years incident wise but after reading on it he should of done serious time
Stallworth sounds more like an accident/idiot

Vick is because he wasnt under influence it wasnt moment of madness it was pure evil planned and executed dog fighting with his ghetto boys. I have no time for people like that and that includes him. Its nothing against Philadelphia i love the place and the teams there but not Vick i cant accept it

I am a Browns fans and the fanbase is very similar to the common City fan. Very similar organization to City up until our takeover. Rich history, lots of hatred for upper management, loyal fanbase, and in the shadow of rivals (Pittsburgh is the closest rival a little under 2-hour drive away, get ALL of the breaks (sound familiar?), and always beats the Browns).

The Browns are owned by Villa owner Randy Lerner but while he has splashed out cash, he knows nothing about (NFL) football and the team struggles year after year.

With the 4th pick in the draft this year they have a chance of drafting QB Robert Griffin, and to make a loose comparison, I think it would be similar to when Robinho came to City; a pretty standard team gets someone to bring some flair and playmaking and re-energize the fanbase.
