Which of our Youngsters will make it with us?

Pablo Maffeo looks the best bet to me seems to play well every time I see him and his positional sense is excellent.

seeing evans play the other night, i feel like he could have a chance now. He was brilliant with some of the long cross field balls and the assist for the goal reminded me of gerrard. I think along with him, pozo, lopes and barker they will make it into our team. I have a feeling pelle has been ordered to start trying the kids out more.

Evans got lost from what I saw and he looks like he is getting back to developing into a nice midfielder, maybe Vieira playing him in defence has helped his positional sense a bit more??

Dare I say his performance yesterday reminded me of Carrick.

I think he's a bit more Emyr Huws than Steven Gerrard, he doesn't show any signs of that power and forward drive that dominated Gerrards game when he was actually decent. He has a lovely range of passing though, so if he can add another dimension to his game, like the ability to screen the defence, then he could be a useful squad player. (with him playing CB for the EDS, I guess defending is the direction they are trying to take him in)

Yea i thought the same, very calm on the ball, great vision and it looked very natural to him. Doesn't do the flashy stuff, but kept the play ticking over

id agree, the passing that reminded of gerrard a bit. I suppose the carrick link is more suitable though. He could be a very useful player to have in the team/squad.

I think the CL squad restrictions will force our hand here. I don’t see any English players that we could realistically get and would fit in / improve our squad. That means that when the likes of Lampard and Milner go they will need to be replaced by HG or CT players that means signing them young or promoting EDS. Again not many 20 year olds would fit / improve the squad. There are exceptions like Pogba and Fabregas that count as HG but they are few and far between. The only realistic option is promoting EDS players.

Angelino must have his eye on Kolarov’s place.
Pogba is not HG.

Colin what makes you think that - he spent 3 years at United - the stipulation to qualify as HG

His transfer to United was on 7th October 2009 and he left for Juve on 3rd July 2012. That puts him about 3 months shy of 3 years. He's now 21, so can't accrue that 3 months at an English club to count as home grown.

I don't think he quite made it to 36 months.

He is 3 months short of qualifying as a home grown player so no he is not home grown.
