Which of our Youngsters will make it with us?

I think this is currently a close to impossible question to answer, & the reason for that is simply that it's a different game, playing alongside top players, & hardly any of our kids have so far been given the opportunity to do it. Some of the best ones, may shit out, when the chance comes.

Imo, there are absolutely loads who could make it at City & some who look like certainties, but the way it usually works is, that one or two of the certainties, are found to lack something & just don't do it, & one or two of the players who looked not quite good enough, find it easier than you (& perhaps they) expected, & suddenly, alongside better players, their game works & they leap forward & practice hard & become the dog's bollocks.

The key to it all though, is you have no idea until you actually start playing them, as it takes time for some to adapt, & we don't fucking play them. Brandon Barker was quiet in Abu Dhabi, but playing with Silva a few times, he probably won't be. (Playing with Kolarov, he might as well get a fucking job in a chip shop). But it could be, he shits out & doesn't produce it. The only way we find out, is to play him sometimes. Same with lots of them.

If we don't start doing so soon, we will have far too many at the age where they need to be around the first team, & that means that some players will end up going on loan, then leaving, without us ever finding out if their game could have been raised by playing at City.

That could easily have happened to Evans, & may still.

I won't slaughter Pellegrini now, as he does go & watch them, & has them training with the first team & I rate what he's done as a manager. But next season, he'd better fucking start thinking of the club, & these players' development, or he can fuck off for me.

No more Sinclairs.

RE your last paragraph, he's surely going to bring Lopes back into the first team next season. Lampard's had about a dozen substitute appearances so far, it'd be nice to see Lopes get a similar amount next year. Lille fans are raving about him when he's fit, he should be more than good enough to play at least a small part.

I think the CL squad restrictions will force our hand here. I don’t see any English players that we could realistically get and would fit in / improve our squad. That means that when the likes of Lampard and Milner go they will need to be replaced by HG or CT players that means signing them young or promoting EDS. Again not many 20 year olds would fit / improve the squad. There are exceptions like Pogba and Fabregas that count as HG but they are few and far between. The only realistic option is promoting EDS players.

Angelino must have his eye on Kolarov’s place.
Pogba is not HG.

Lopes will make it with us, he is already being compared to Hazard at Lille. With all the formations of the fans with an injury free team, Lopes features as an attacking central midfielder.

There is a link to a fans forum, for those who do not speak French if using Chrome there is an option to translate to English.

Denayer once again has all the attributes, with Celtic fans praying to get him for another year. He can play a number of positions and has an amazing desire to succeed here.

Barker and Ambrose need to be loaned out, but within 2 years should be members of the first team squad.

Have you got a link to said praise?
If you go on allezlelosc, the Lille forum, he recieves pretty much nothing but praise (all in french obviously). They seem to rate him as their only player as being worthy of the tag "footballer", along with their new signing Boufal. Given the season they're having, it's not surprising that the people who've been fit and playing all season are getting dogs abuse. They don't use individual player threads much, but they talk nothing but positively about him in the match thread and the post match positives and negatives thread (which I love as an idea tbh)

+The entrance to Lopes , this kid really exceptional thing
+Lopes, our best player.
Boufal brings everything we lacked LOSC since the beginning of the season and Lopes made us a world of good
I think with a full team can display a different face . Already Lopes is one step up our offensive power , he has a good grip on the ball , it is determined in these actions and has good vision
wish it wasn't so often injured because lopes is a sacred player

and the fairest assesment, based on what I've seen of Lille

A sad and ugly evening , as usual, against an opponent who was in agony yet . Only exceptions: Boufal and Lopes . the rest , apart Enyeama was completely crap

It does need pointing out that being Lille's best attacking player is not something to exactly write home about, as they are utter dogshite, but it's good that he can stand out as a talent even when surrounded by useless lumps.

I think Denayer, Pozo and Lopes are the closest. And I still rate Pozo as the most talented EDS lad we have.
Angelino (and to some extent Maffeo) I feel are being shaped into a future city fullback.
The likes of Glendon, Evans, Cole etc have the potential to be squad players.
Barker has been fantastic but he has a lot he needs to add to his game.
Anyone under 18 is really difficult to tell how they will turn out, but Garcia, Brahim, Faour, Ambrose, Adarabiyo all look very talented.

Tbh it's the largest and most talented pool of players we've ever had. I mean I didn't even mention the likes of Celina, Boadu, Bryan, Bytyqi, Ntcham, Fofana, Smith-Brown, Intima, Byrne etc.

Only a very select few (if any) of these lads will actually play more than 1/2 cameos for city.
However, if they don't make it here they all have a good chance of making a good career from themselves and earining City a respectable fee in the process.

I searched his name during the Lille game and there were many, many positive comments about him with the general consensus being that he's the best thing they have and he makes them tick.

He's mint. He should definitely make it out of any of our youngsters in my opinion. He'd do a job now as he's what we sometimes miss - a direct nippy dribbler with a rocket of a shot.

Lopes will definitely be with us next season in my opinion.

Denayer is out most promising central defender and for me if he continues impressing in Scotland I reckon a Premier League club or another top flight European club will take him on loan.

Defenders rely on experience a lot so for Denayer he needs to be playing week in week out for at least another season before he comes to City.

Pozo will hopefully be on loan next season as well, if I was Txiki I woul be getting a club in Spain or Holland lined up.

Barker has all the technical ability to make it as a Premier League winger but I would like to see him on loan in the Championship next season and have him learning the hard way coming up against really tough tackling fullbacks, if he can overcome that his game will go to the next level.
