Which players are no longer good enough?

Everyone of your points made sense, overall i agree with you.
But i am pretty sure that Pep will get rid of Bony from day one.
Same goes for Navas, as i don't expect Pep to bare the ordeal of being frustrated constantly by Jesus' one dimensional game and poor end-product.

Bony is going to cost us! I cant see anyone willing to pay more than £15m for him and we will probably end up subbing wages like we usually do when we want rid. I bet by the time he has gone he will have cost us well over £25m for 18m of shite!

Disagree on Mangala and Fernando. They are just coming good. I think Delph also deserves a chance.
At leftback. He doesn't stand a chance in midfield. Just doesn't see the play. Overlaps beautifully though, even though he doesn't get the ball when he does, unless DeBryune is playing.

Not neccessarily not good enough but in my opinion who wont be here next season
Mdm - legs gone ,way past his sell by date
Wright - time he moved on
Willy - need a better understudy regardless of his LC final heroics
Kolarov - not good enough defensively
Zab - legend whos best days are behind him Im sorry to say
Yaya - another whos age has caught up with him
Nando - not consistent enough
Navas - for a winger his final ball and decisions are not good enough
Bony - need I say more that hasnt already been said about wilf
Jovetic - end of season loan to purchase deal
Edin - as above

I think Pep will have to have 4 categories of player...

1) Who is inadequate - sell
2) Who is adequate - keep, but actively start looking for upgrades
3) Who is nearing end of life - keep, but actively start scouting for replacements
4) Highly capable, and no need to replace

We have quite a few players in categories 1 & 2 (Ota,Mangala,Clichy,Kolarov,Navas,Bony, Sterling,Nasri,Delph,Fernandinho) - the question is which of those Pep feels he accept in improve and which he can't.
Many of our stalwarts - Kompany, Zab, Silva, Yaya are in category 3.
Arguably only Hart, Aguero and KdB are in category 4

When laid out like this, there's quite a lot of work to be done (or certainly lots of scope for improvement). Hand on heart, most of our players are not at the very high end of European football, they're at the higher end of PL football only, and of those that are high end, they're getting on.

We all debate about the future prospects of younger players like Nacho and Sterling, but if Pep is tasked with winning PL and CL and if here for 3 years, then we have to ask 'are they likely to be CL winning material in the next 2-3 years'?'

I am seriously hoping Pep believes he can coach a lot of players into being significantly better - e.g. Sterling, Delph, Ota, Mangala, Fernando otherwise he's got a hell of a job on his hands, because hand on heart, I think there's only Hart, Aguero and KdB that would pique the interests of Europe's very best teams, and maybe they'd take a punt on Sterling, but I'm not convinced.
This! Oh so this! So so this!!!! :-) Finally, someone said it. Didn't want to be the one to say it,coz I have a bad reputation for picking on our legends. Only tweak, I think Dihno is in group 3.

Has Silva been pooor this season? I thought his assists were better than previous seasons? at 30/31 he doesnt have much future but I did assume that both he and KDB are our only real creators and were probably good for another season.... they play really well together imo... I just think Silva will be asked to work harder and lets see if he does
It's all about narratives: it's funny how midway through the season the prevailing claim was that Silva and DeBryune couldn't play together. And Silva on the srenght of his first 4 games was deemed to be having a great season and his poor games were put down to Injury ( which may be true) and DeBryune's disjointed presence.

Then DeBryune got injured, and we really sucked ( albeit we had started sucking before Kev's injury, and some blamed our poor form on DeBryune being unable to gel with the team or play well on the road.

Then we got worse in his absence, then he came back and provided some spark, and now the new
I didn't see the need as its not even a debate,he's gone.
Lol. That's just raw :)

Hart – keep
Zabaleta – sell (shame but he doesn’t look as though he has much shelf life left)
Sagna – keep
Kompany – jury out. (He needs another couple of games)
Otamendi – keep
Mangala – jury still out(but has shown promise)
Clichy – keep
Kolarov – sell
Yaya – sell
Delph – sell
Fernando – sell
Fernandinho – keep
Aguero – keep
Silva – keep
Sterling – sell
Navas – keep
De Bruyne – keep
Bony – gift wrap and deliver

Demic picked up a good bundle fromn the bookies tonight - on behalf of the team
Agree with you except sterling, needs another year and a style of play. Would add cabellero

Not sure why, but I have a funny feeling that we will see 1 or 2 surprise promotions from The Academy this summer.
It's just a hunch , but I reckon Pep will make some 'unknown' kid a superstar.
Here's hoping.

I'll put my money on aleix garcia

That is hilarious! You actually believe there will be that many changes?!
It's only 5 out. I think those who feel pep would have done better with our squad are being optimistic. We will have at least 6 changes, he will be given the tools to win the lot

I think continued speculation and uncertainty regarding player's future have played an important role in our failure to challenge for the PL this season.

possibly but you could argue that if you were kolarov knowing pep coming and he likes wig backs you would work your arse off so he keeps you and you get to say I was coached by the best manager in the world. Sadly he was back to his don't give a shit attitude on Tuesday. So your point should work both wsys

Sorry but that is nonsense.
Is it? To reach Bayern/Barca/Real level:

GK: Hart Willy both not on that level.
Defence: Sagna Zaba Kolarov Clichy Mangala MDM
Centre Midfield: Yaya Nando Delph, in fact we have one Cm I'd actually say is good enough
Attack: Sterling Bony

Our aim is not to just be the best in the country but to be the best in Europe, be honest and tell me if any of those would get in any of the top sides in the world.

Hart would get into most of the top teams (Maybe) Sterling is still a WIP and might come good. Mangala has improved a lot but probably won't make it. All of these should be kept imo in the short term. I think there will be a lot more rotation under Pep and these guys will be valuable

Hart is a top shot stopper but he hasn't got the distribution to be a top top keeper I feel. Mangala still passes the ball away under no pressure at all, don't see how pep would like that but I'd probably keep him for another season see how he goes. Sterling "might" come good is what we all hope, I doubt he has the technical ability to play the PlayStation football pep likes to play though.

Hart would do. He is world class, am basing that on feedback, performances, international status. Why are you saying he isn't? I mean what reason?

The rest.... Not sure tbh. but I think there is more to it than being the ' best '. Look at Leicester, great team spirit etc.. If we got that right then I do think we would be one of the best in Europe.... even with our team. Also, we are in the cl semi, you don't achieve that without world class players..

But why not Hart, my god I think if it wasn't for him we would have lost some important games
