Which set of fans are the most deluded and why?

It's a nonsense to isolate individual clubs, as thought they have a group identity.

A significant proportion of all football crowds are deluded. And ignorant. That's about it.

There is no "winner" or "loser". Silly to pretend otherwise.

Sense at last.

I should like to offer this thread:

as Liverpool's entry for the delusion stakes. The OP blames what appears to be their mental illness of the state of things at their Club. Lord above, if they'd supported City they'd have topped themselves years ago.

They're all just trying too hard to be 'super fan' over there - depression, medical advice, self-harm, wtf?! some of them are creepy people.

And the saddest thing is this all clear marks them out as glory-hunters because the thing they're all in a tizz about is them not signing big name players.

They can say it's because of the ownership situation and all the complexities of it etc but the most obvious manifestation of that is the transfer policy and if it weren't for that I doubt they'd even fooking notice, half of them!

Hes scouse they dont need much of an excuse to go on the sick

They think they are the biggest club on the planet and have the best fans in the country...

Its laughable really.
Totally agree. Hope they go straight back down

Disagree...any one who goes to watch City away loves going to Newcastle..on the whole cracking set of fans...I'd rather see 3000 barcodes at ours than 300 Wigan fans...who would you rather replaced them?

The deluded part is them thinking that all of those distant-memory trophies make them a bigger club than Chelsea etc.

Maybe it does in some weird 'old time football fan code' way, but not in a way that actually means anything in the real world - in the world of who universally gets more backed to get a result, in the world of who is a bigger draw for players, who is a bigger name teams fear playing etc.

Football isn't some never-ending tally chart of time-line trophies including those that stretch back to the fucking 1890s - it's ridiculous to claim that if we won the next seven league titles on the trot Everton would be a bigger club than us. It's ridiculous to claim that if ANYONE did Everton would be a bigger club than them.

I don't get a fuck about all this historical shite, football is about who fucks with the biggest dick in the here and now. And our footballing cock is much bigger than Everton's. Not in 1987, a distant memory to all but a few deluded scousers who wish they still lived there and even dress the part - NOW. :)

Some people may call that arrogant, I call it realistic.

Everton are a smaller club than Chelsea now but traditionally have been a bigger club.

The size of a club is nothing to do with their history or their fame.

The clue is in the name. It is their size.

And the only ways you can measure that is in attendances and possibly turnover in the modern age.

As an example, City have always been a bigger club than Forest, even though Forest have won the European Cup twice.

I never said Everton haven't won anything, i said they think they're a massive club in spite of the fact they haven't won anything IN HOWEVER MANY YEARS.

Yes they last won a trophy after we last won a trophy, but in the here and now, we have more going for us that I would say makes us a big club. A decent stadium, bigger fan base, financial stability and ambition.

Blackburn have won the Premiership and we haven't, are Blackburn a bigger club than us?
