Which world cup was your personal favourite

1982 - Brazil, what an exciting team.
A complete footballing revelation to me. I was 11 and was more gutted when they were knocked out (by Paulo Rossi - shit I nearly wrote Francis Rossi!) than when England limped out.
some great teams, games and goals, not been surpassed for me. Italia 90 was great as I was 19 and in the pubs on England’s run, but Socrates, Zico, Eder, Junior, Falcao et al will stay with me forever.

Because they didn’t win with this style Brazil moved away and the Mexico 86 version was a complete opposite, a dull poor version.

1970 was my favourite at 9yrs of age watching it on a new colour tv my dad had rented paying for it weekly from a local shop.As a result had to go to Mexico 86.Went for 6 weeks after only taking 2weeks off work.As you can guess I had a little bit of explaining to do when I got home.

Big sporting events were generally better pre-nineties I find and the World Cup is no different. Italia '90 was probably the last decent WC for me, the American one was only decent for the Jack Charlton underdog Irish team angle and France '98 because England threatened to be potential winners, but at the cost of the squad being full of rags. I struggle to remember where 2002 was held without googling it, or many of the ones after. I know there have been ones in Japan/S Korea, S Africa, Russia, Germany (maybe) but it's all a blur as to which year goes with which. Did Brazil have one?

94 for me as couple of friends and myself turned it into a road trip. Flew to LA drove to Vegas, up to SF, down coast to San Diego, crossed over into Tijuana and back up to LA to fly home again. All planned around 6 games including semi final and final
