Who can we actually class as world class players?

A world class player is a player who is world class.

LoL....

The term is loosely thrown around alot by the media hype machine and I don't believe there is any true world class player around as every dog has its day.... some days Robinho looks "worldclass" and other days he's looked pisspoor.
I've seen worldclass defensive performances from players like Ledley King, but is he worldclass? hell no!

Watch matches with the likes of Pele/Zidane/Cruyff etc, full 90min matches not these 2min youtube highlights and they suddenly become complete different players, they appear to be imperfect.

The media like the fans to believe sports stars are %100 perfect, everything they do is gold... its what sells, yet we all know James Douglas beat Mike Tyson

I'd define world class as being in contention for a world 11.

We haven't got anyone anywhere near.

your right there Rooney is right lump of lard

I'm talking about City.

Rooney is world class. Possibly Gerrard too.

England have no others.

Im inclined to agree about Rooney as for Gerrard not so sure anymore

Gerrard is wanted by Inter Milan (Champions League Trophy 2009 - 2010) and Real Madrid (Arguebly the most prestigious club in the world right now) so I think that is a tribute to the quality of the player.

Ashley Cole is world class. You define world class as "being in contention for a world 11". The only 2 left backs that could be considered for such an 11 are Cole and Evra. Ashley Cole would certainly be "in contention" and is therefore world class, no? I don't rate Gerrard as world class... not anymore. In England's team, we have Rooney and A. Cole. In City's team, we have none unfortunately. Tevez and Robinho are just outside of being in contention for a world 11, imo.

Yes defo Cole, forgot about him,yes not seen many better left backs than him

World class players do it when the time is right.

Which is why we can honestly say we have nobody at our own club at present, although I believe Hart has the potential in a niche position.

Class is over a period of time, which is why, as much as I hate to admit it, both Scholes and Giggs were world class.

The last truly world class player in this country was Thierry Henry.

Cristiano Ronaldo never did it in World Cup and European Championship finals.
