Who could replace Mancini ?

Yeah, the calls for Rijkaard are hilarious. He did a good job at Barca, granted, but Barca have an outstanding academy and scouting system in place. When he moved to Galatasaray, he was found out and did an appalling job.

I want Mancini to stay badly because another overhaul could set us back yet again.

If he had to go though, the owners would look at Mourinho. I'd prefer Andre Villas-Boas, Mourinho's pupil and much less arrogant, personally, but that is idealism and we'd never appoint someone so unproven even if he is clearly one of the world's best managers in the making.

There really aren't many upgrades on Mancini. Mourinho might grind out the results more effectively, but BM would be in regular meltdown about our frequent negative tactics. Guardiola seems to be a very good manager but he has just signed an extension and again, will he be the same outside of Barca?

After that you're looking at Pellegrini, Van Gaal (look at Bayern's domestic season and some of his embarrassing antics like dropping his underpants in front of his players to "prove a point"), Deschamps, or even Jurgen Klopp who is likely to be hot property after this season but would never leave Borussia with them heading into the Champions League next season.
Dude,

There are no calls for Rijkaard! The OP asked for names of Dutch, French or Spanish coaches who has a known history of entertaining football. I just gave him the name of a Dutch coach, who has coached top talent before, in an entertaining fashion, and who is now currently free to coach again. Period.

This is not an endorsement of Rijkaard, nor a call for a coaching replacement. Simply put, it is a response to the question asked by the OP.

Re: Who could replace Mancini?

I think a better question would be who 'would' replace Mancini?? The club has stated that the goal is the CL and we are on pace for that. Getting rid of Hughes mid-season wasn't necessarily bad judgment, but extremely bad timing. Getting rid of Mancini, irregardless of season's outcome would be just plain BAD.

The club is tired, playing every three days, with 14 or 15 healthy players. Mancini's tenure will be decided in the next two months.

Not from you maybe, but his name has been mentioned over and over again during panic mode "Mancini Out!" periods, when in reality he's inferior to Mancini as a manager.

Oh! I see. My Bad :)

Guss Hiddink is the only one I could see being a step up who would play more attractive football who is proven in the prem...

No, Mancini is not doing 'fine'. For pitty's sake - why wont anyone admit it, the guy doesnt know what he's doing! I said it last Season and will continue to say it; He's bought badly, managed badly, tactically inept, too defensive, and has a fool (Platt) as an assistant.
Why give him another Season? What on earth will change? He's had 300m to spend and we are currently 11 points behind the worst United team in 30 years.
What you going to do - give him another 300m?
We pay a lot of money to travel and watch 20mins max of City actually playing football - the rest is turgid crap where they just dont seem bothered. Say what you like about United, but at least they look like they'll die for the cause each and every time they pull the shirt on - whilst we have; Barry,Boeteng,Toure,Balotelli etc who loll around the pitch doing bugger all.
I for one am damn angry. This was supposed to be the new dawn etc - well its still night time where I sit.........................

Look at the season as a whole: 3rd in the Premier league, Favourites to win the Europa league and still in the FA cup... still people moan.
Not bad for a club that hasn't won anything for 34years is it? Mancini's record speaks for its self, he won trophies at every club he's managed.

But do YOU enjoy watching us (City) play football? As a supporter of 40 years - I dont!
Where's the passion? The crowd are the quietest I've ever experienced in all my time going to watch the blues and its 'cos the team dont inspire passion.........

Hardly a 'panic mode' is it? Mancini has shown us his brand of football - whatever players he buys. I for one dont like it. We can win trophies with style and not endure the turgid, half hearted clueless dross we put up with for 75mins every game.
That style is not going to change and is not what my club are all about.

I agree with the post above. I dont like it either. But just wait till next season when we sign more players and get rid of those loanees and bad squad players. Mancini will have more options...

So he doesn't have to play the players out of their position so much...

Can't wait to see what our team is like after the summer. And if our stadium will be expanded and things like that...

I hear what your saying, I really do but its a step by step thing and not an everything all at once (which to some extent is what Hughes tried).
Step 1 build a successfull team and win a trophy and Step 2 ensure the style of play is up to the required standard.

Look how successfull Mourinhio is and look at his style of play.
I'd rather we won trophies first.
