Who Is The Best Keeper Of All Time?

Of all time:
1. Lev Yashin
2. Frank Swift
3. Bert Trautman
4. Gordon Banks
5. Dino Zoff
6. Peter Shilton
7. Oliver Kahn
8. Gianluigi Buffon
9. Peter Schmeichel
10. Neville Southall

Should probably be a place for Fatty Foukes too.

My Dad's dad, who died a long time ago now though, but he always maintained that Frank Swift was the best he'd ever seen.

My Mam's Dad who is still alive, who is in his late 70s, says Bert Trautman is the best he's ever seen.

My Dad reckons Pat Jennings.

I reckon Schmeichel.

The Danish Rudolph for me as well. That save at an field from diouf when he played for us was breathtaking!

well, my best goalkeepers:

1)Buffon (but don't remind me last 3 matches played by him);
2)Zoff
3)Kahn
4)Scheimchel
5)Chilavert

Ravelli was a good gk aswell, i also would add in the list Yashin ofc.

Kahn is the best I've ever seen personally (granted as a Bayern fan it's easy to say but he really was world class), imo more consistent than Schmeichel.

The best ever is more difficult, there are a few candidates.
Haven't you seen footage of the Bayern team in the seventies and the nationalteam back then? Sepp Maier is still the best german keeper of all time, imo. Kahn was a beast though, no doubt. A one man defense who at his peak (98-02) was arguably as good as anyone, but over his career, I'd pick Maier ahead of him comfortably.

Sepp Maier.

Brought art, skill, fitness and agility to this most skilful position. Had gloves like coal scuttles. IMHO.

He was fun. He even hunted ducks on the pitch... ;) - and was a comedian off the pitch. He was the goalkeeper coach at Bayern and the national team until Klinsmann came - Klinsmann and him could not get around...

Nice seen I found when looking for the duck hunt... that includes some other Ex-Bayern-Players and Berti Vogts...

(Germans have humour...)

Tomechevski, the guy the great Brian cough called a clown, he saved every thing that night, but for me banks was probably the best goalkeeper I've ever seen, followed by schmicheal,

I'm sure keepers like Trautmann, Banks, Jennings, Shilton, Zoff, Yashin etc were fantastic keepers, however I either never saw them play, or only saw them when they were really old and past their best (in the case of Shilton, Zoff and Jennings) so I can't really rank them as being the "Best of All Time" as such a distinction needs to be based upon personal opinion.

For me Buffon has always been quality, however he's on the wane these days. Oliver Khan was a decent keeper too. However, as much as it pains me to say it, the best keeper I have ever seen play was Peter Schmeichel.
