Who Is The Best Keeper Of All Time?

Eric Nixon made the best ever save I ever saw.

At Oldham.

Remember that - from andy Ritchie right in front of the city end. He kind of twisted in mid air. It was breathtaking.

Peter will always be the best keeper ever pre-2011 (I'm nearly 30 so have obvious knowledge limitations)...there is only one man who can save as many points if not more than him. He just so happens to be our Number 1

Frank Swift by a country mile, his name was,and still is spoken with reverence in my family.
Second,Bert, third Yashin.Special mention to Corrigan, the abuse that lad had to put up with early doors would have finished most players.

I would chuck Neville Southall in the mix 2...
When I started really understanding football he was past his best. I have heard a couple of ex United players say he was a better keeper than Schmeichel, but they were Welsh and not big fans of the Dane.

the best i've ever seen is Peter Schmeichel by quite a distance, the best at the moment in my opinion is Neuer, the best English keeper i think i've ever seen is Shilton.Joe Hart is going to be very very good but just wish i could have a chat with him and just say to him 'Joe,make sure people remember you as a great goalkeeper and not some geezer who was on a shampoo ad'

Easily Peter Shilton. Always dependable but incredibly athletic as well. Also had Brian Clough's personal endorsement and that's good enough for me.

As far as I'm concerned it's Schmeichel, and by an absolute country mile. As immense as a keeper gets, the Messi between the sticks.

^^ This. No-one to touch him. Brilliant distribution, saving like a madman, command of the 6-yard area, class. I don't think there'll ever be another as good. And he let his defenders know who was the boss big-time! It's all very well looking back and saying the old guys were better but I'll tell you now this guy was ultra world-class and if there's ever been or will ever be a better keeper then I'll eat my own head.

Weaver against Ipswich was the finest GK performance I've witnessed live.

Love the nods to Jennings, he was a gentleman and a class apart.

Anyone remember the Ipswich keeper Cooper saving pens in the early 80's (yes I know he played for City (5-1) but like Seaman was past it).

Coton was class for us :o)
