Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

Genuine question how high would you be willing to let your tax rate go before getting a bit pissed off?

Well i'm pissed off now but its the unfairness in the system, corruption and the waste that pisses me off. These Tory ministers in post for 24hrs about to receive £,000s in severance pay...

I could pay more - but why should if BJ is going to spend the money on his tax payer funded wedding party or gold wallpaper. This in a way is Tory ideology, all public sector cost is wasted so thet might as well waste it themselves then demand tax cuts and shut down services. All great if you are a millionaire with private healthcare and education available.

So I'd happily pay more but I'd want a decent center left labour party in power and i would trust them to spend / manage it appropriately. That is what i tend to vote for.

Agreed so how much would you be willing to see your tax rate rise by? I would happily pay say 5% more if it was distributed well. I think the tax rate should be staggered more but there is an obsession with income tax in this country.

Any manifesto that mentions an increase sees people losing their minds.

Agreed and it's a reflection of how our politics has been reduced to nothing but soundbites rather than meaningful discourse that backs those soundbites up . There remains an important debate to be had about progressive taxation and if/how it might be optimised for the benefit of the country/economy but when was the last time you heard politicians discussing this in a serious fashion?

Debate and fresh ideas are dead in this country. Its more a pick a side and defend mentality. We need to raise an eye watering amount of money and hard decisions need to be made.

Tbh I'd pay more tax , its what the country needs. And every time I hear politicians promising tax breaks I can't but help think they hurt the country a little bit just for party politics. Vote loser for me.

Sounds like the last few Labour leaders. It could be a female to be fair

Most people would pay more tax if it meant we had an NHS that worked, an R and D department that kept drug prices low, energy prices under control, a reliable and cheap public transport system, all children fed, no homelessness etc.

Most voted for change in 2016.

They believed if we moved away from the EU that we’d be better off.

I’d say a large number of people didn’t vote for brexit based on economic reasons.
