Who were City's best three and worst three managers ever?

I'd give a little cheer for Peter Reid.

People look back at Peter Reid with rose tinted glasses, he was OK with Kendal's team and when HE played.

Him and Sam Ellis constructed all our play around hoofing it to Quinn and made some odd selections (he preferred Adrian Heath to Clive Allen) dire to watch

He stays out of the bottom three by virtue of the fact we cornered the market in shite mangers before and after him.

Worst : Ball
Clarke
Coppell (not there long but long enough to employ Phil Neal!)

Best:
Mercer
Mancini
Keegan (the 1st Div season still the best complete season in my time)

In my lifetime (aged 24)

Good:

1. Keegan
2. Mancini
3. Horton

Bad:

1. Ball
2. Coppel
3. Clark

im glad to see that people have not mentioned Horton or Machin here, I enjoyed some of the attacking teams they put out, with limited resources, and I think they oth did well.

In my earlier post I stated John Bond as one of our worst managers due to the second half of the season in which we were first at around christmas and finished in mid table at the end of the season, John at first was a good but his second season was poor so that is why I said John Bond purely for being first at around xmas and then losing his way in to mid table

But you stated "THAT" season, as if it was some how locked away in everyone's memory banks!

We were first at Xmas and fell away because Trevor Francis was out pretty much the whole of the second half of the season injured, and we were selling players to make up for the poor financial state we were in.

I'm just surprised you called it THAT season, when it wasn't that bad!

You sure you haven't mixed it up with somebody else?
I just remember thinking we might just do it that year and in the end he did a sven and we were crap after christmas it has just stayed in my memory but probably on reflection we have had worse

I'm shocked that Sven is getting mentioned in the best managers.
He had a great start and then fell apart after christmas in epic proportions.
Bought a load of crap in the transfer market.

He did beat united twice though so he would escape my bottom 3.

Also a bit harsh to include Parce - it was crap football but we were skint and had a crap team, not too much more he could have done.

Sven is also the responsable for signing JO, psycho was OK he did the best he could with a championship squad

Glad to see that some people realise what a load of sh1te Keegan left the club.
While his promotion season was a joy to watch, his signngs after that left an awful lot to be deisred, as he turned Maine Road into a retirement home for injured scousers on top wages (that we couldnt afford), meaning that when he decided to retire (after agreeing a pay-off), pearce was left with a very poor squad and a lot of players that were past their sell by date by a couple of years and a drain on the clubs coffers.
That pearce managed to keep us in the top flight was a wonder in itself, even if the football was not as we would have liked.

City failed to score at home in the 2nd half of an entire season, that really isn't ok

Our strikers included: Samaras, Beasley, Corradi, An old Dickov, Mpenza
We had no money, Wardle was desperate to sell the club and I personally think that finishing 14th with that squad wasn't that bad
