Who Will Pose A Threat Next Season

I think the people saying Liverpool will pose the greatest threat are forgetting they finished 25 points behind us...

That was the same logic people wanted to get them in the Champions League. Look how that went. They will be a threat because ultimately they have the beating of us. If they up their game against the shit teams they could challenge.

We play them twice a season usually which will make no difference to our league standings even if we lose both of them

Feel free to read the rest, they start beating the shit and they are a threat. If they don't then they won't be. It is pretty simple. My hope is they somehow go backwards. That would be very nice.

We need to start next season as well as we did last season. The rest will try and buy the right players to strengthen, but Arsenal and Chelsea will be in transition of having new managers trying to implement their ways, so I think we can rule them out for the title. Spurs play decent football I think united and Liverpool are our biggest threat, but we need to concentrate on winning each game and let the rest worry about catching us.

I can only see us getting stronger as a squad under Guardiola and I think we will retain the title and push on in Europe to go all the way to winning the champions league.

Agree but i see united as more of a threat than liverpool. They may have reached the cl final but they have again failed in the league and couldnt even catch united. Salah will have to replicate this seasons form and the odds are agsinst that happening. Even with the form he has shown liverpool have ended with a worst points tally than the season before so all this bravado about progression is nonsense.

It seems like Mourinho will spend as much as he is allowed to this summer in order to close the gap. If they do then they will have a very strong squad capable of challenging us, that's how it I see it. But we all know they are trying to catch up by buying top quality players in their prime. Mourinho is desperately cobbling a squad of very expensive players hoping to get it right.

The problem for them is Mourinho himself. He has created a divide between the players. Publicly lambasting several players in press conferences is not the way to create a harmonious workplace for the players. They don't often play as a team, and many don't look like they care or have enough respect for Mourinho. A stark contrast to our squad who will run through burning hoops for Guardiola, and the player unity and desire to be part of our squad to be winners is there for all to see, and that is the main reason I see us getting stronger and retaining the title.

They'll all be better than last season without question. If Chelsea get Sarri as manager I'd expect a vast improvement from them, and a dipper win (and associated media 'istreeeeee' fawnathon) on Saturday will aid their recruitment no end. I'd predict City, Dippers, Chelsea, Rags, Spurs, Arse in that order, but really it's all pie in the sky until the transfer window closes and the season starts......

I really have no idea what the finishing order will be next season beyond the team most likely to finish first but even then I don't think it is guaranteed that City will win back to back titles for the first time. I doubt any other team will break into the top six but there's a few teams that might knock on the door, surprise packages do appear.

I'd be hugely disappointed if City don't at the very least make a decent fist of defending their tackle and are not in contention for the league until the end so we might get a reasonably close title race for the first time since the Dippers last won it.

I expect the new managers at Chelsea and Arsenal to make positive differences and Chelsea could race back through the pack. I foresee Chelsea, the Dippers and the Rags all outspending us; wouldn't surprise me if the Swamp Dwellers break records for total spending in a window. Not sure if the North London clubs can spend big but if Spurs keep their best players and do some investment, they won't be easy to dislodge from the top four.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if the others don't close the gap on City but hopefully not enough to stop us enjoying our first successful title defence; however, it is all a flying pastry encased delight until the musical chairs finishes.

Totally agree. And i liken the scenario to how it has been in La Liga. Barcelona built it the way they wanted too around a style of play. Madrid had no reply except to try and close the gap by buying massive named players (as they do)

Mourinho will go that route especially now as he needs to produce in the league. But when he leaves they will be in a right mess.

Liverpool may finish top four but i expect chelsea and arsenal to be stronger next season even though under new management. Liverpool may find next season a lot tougher than they think

A decent start is imperative; certainly one that means we have not lost the race early. Pep is big on "you can't win it in the first few months but you can lose it". The big concern for us has to be having so many players at the World Cup and so many whose nations could go deep into the tournament. Our pre-season could be horribly disjointed and we could have some fairly weary stars after the exertions of winning the league in such a dominant way and then playing in the World Cup. It's quite possible that we will end up with guys in the dressing room who have winners and losers medals from the final; which could present a psychological challenge.

On the other hand, it appears that the players we are trying to recruit are guys who just happen not the be going to the World Cup and that we are determined to have them on board before pre-season, which could be helpful at the beginning of the next league campaign.

Of course we won't be the only team affected by the World Cup.

If the Dippers win tonight, they will take a huge psychological boost into next season and will really believe it's their year.

I'm hoping that the significance of City's approach of developing a way of playing that does not rely on one manager or Galactico spending will only really become apparent to the rest after several years of City winning multiple titles.

Agree...we are on the right path. What Cruyff left in place at Barcelona is what Pep is building here at our club. Future managers of our club will quote Pep as the manager that built our style of play and put it in place

TBF, I think Txiki (and Ferran) are the guys who started to put in place the style of play and the strategy to have a way of playing. Of course, they took that from what Cryuff (& LVG(!) and Pep) did at Barca and set things up with the intention of getting Pep in to cement the approach. Pep is the guy that will get most of the kudos. What's going to be interesting is how much of the positional play approach will survive Pep? One big reason I now hope that Arteta will stay around and be the right man to succeed Pep is that it might mean that the full on positional play approach will be followed for a very long time.

Going to say no one. Don’t think we’ll win it by 19 points but I think we’ll win it comfortably again. I don’t think we make the mistakes of the past 2 title wins...kick on, and kick on strong.
