Why are we being linked with mid level signings?

Yep, and we've just got rid of one of those world class players. If you or anybody else is happy with replacing a world class player with an average one then fair enough, but I don't care whether we spent 50 million on a striker, I just want the best for my club and not the mid run dross who nobody wants. I'd rather we paid the 45-50 on Cavani than paid 20 on Pepe and 18 on Negredo. What people don't realise is that those players will cost is more than the 50 million in the long run.

And what if Cavani doesn't want to come here? Ever thought of that? Tevez didn't want to be here, so we moved him on. As Waspish has already said, it doesn't do United any harm in having so called 'average' players in and amongst world class players, and it could be said we have more world class players in our ranks than United do, so where's the harm in supporting those players with those 'average' players in the way United have had success with? We've added 2 high-end signings already this window, who else has? If we add decent signings with them then it will be a successful window.

There's no denying our signings so far have been brilliant, but at the same time we missed out on a quality signing and have got rid of one of our best players so it seems like 1 step forwards, 1 step back. I'd be much happier with Isco in our squad right now, but it wasn't to be, but whether it's just media rubbish or not if we miss out on Isco and Cavani, Negredo, Gomez, Cardozo and Pepe should not be signalled out as alternatives. You've got to ask yourself, would Barcelona or Madrid buy those players and they wouldn't. We were streets behind United last year so we need to buy the top of the top, and if not the top then the next level down.

Negredo and Soldado are both good players and would both be good options as our replacement for Tevez.

Fred however, would not.

Never heard of Negredo and Soldado, so they're hardly going to get us to the next level, looks to me like FFP is having a bad effect on us.

So in your opinion, only players that YOU have heard of are deemed worthy of a place in our team?! Get your head out of your arse mate. So many things wrong with that I don't even know where to begin.

Had you 'heard' of Nastastic for example? If you hadn't, does that mean you thought he was automatically too shit for us? Similarly, you'd probably 'heard' of the likes of Robinho, and they didn't exactly turn into superstars with us did they? What a pathetic point.

Someone posted on here about signing the replacement for Falcao at Athletico Madrid. They sold Torres and replaced him with Aguero, they sold him and replaced him with Falcao, they are now trying to sign Negredo who apparantly only scored a couple of goals less than Falcao. A.Madrid seem to buy the so called B list players and turn them into A list players why should we be any different?

Bayern have plenty of players in there squad who people on here would turn their noses up at and it didn't seem to hurt them. They bought a 28 year old CB with no caps of a mid table side for about £4m last year, who was a key part of them winning everything this year(Dante). Some on here would have been calling for the board to be sacked if we'd signed him

Benteke may not be a massive name, but he is a player who has all the attributes to be a huge success at City. We play a nice passing build up game and Benteke is VERY VERY good at holding the ball up. He never seems to lose it and is very good technically, brings other players into play. Now we have Navas, Benteke would have an absolute field day with crosses being whipped in the box. He is superb in the air and when we play teams like Everton and Stoke, we have really struggled to break them down... but Benteke gives us that other option, that other dimension because of his power and aggression. He can hustle and bustle for 90 minutes and still link play up between the midfielders. He is more than just a target man... he also has terrific pace and can play on the last shoulder of a defender and with players like Silva, Nasri and Toure threading balls through, he could score an absolute bag full. Put it this way... if Benteke came to City for 25m and Cavani went to Chelsea for around 50m... i would put good money on Benteke finishing the season with more goals than Cavani, given that he gets around the same number of games. He is an ABSOLUTE monster and like i said, defenders are feared to death of him. Just look at the way he bullied John Terry and David Luiz around, the way he bullied Vidic and Smalling, the way he bullied Heitinga and Jagielka and Skrtel and Carragher... he would be that different type of player who would bring something new to our line up. We have all the skill in the world in our side, but sometimes you need a striker who can throw his weight around and be a nightmare for opposition defences just like Drogba was. He also looks to me as if he has a big mentality and unlike Dzeko, he does not let anyone bully him about. Great finisher as well.

I was impressed with Benteke last season - with a good side playing behind him he could be immense. I know a lot of these players don't go on to the business when they move to bigger clubs but he's proven he can score a hatful in the PL and that was in a poor Villa side. Only problem is he still has 3 years on his contract and we will end up paying well over the odds - but he's only 22 and will get better.

I think City should test Villa`s resolve & try to sign Benteke, he`s going to be a great player

I'd never heard of Nastasic and now I fucking love him but Negredo's been at the top for fucking years. Not saying I'd sign him or I'd have him over Dzeko but he's been scoring goals year in year out for Sevilla.
