Why are you a City fan?

Dad played in the brass band at half at Maine Road, he took me with him and we would meet up with my uncle so I could stand with him behind the goal, that was about 1958 when I was 11 years old, sadly Dad died just before the takeover so never new of the fantastic times we are enjoying now.

Great photo, thanks for the memories, that squad should have done better than it did.

There are some faces on that picture which takes me back!!
Start of 1979/80 season I think.

17 English players, 1 Scot, 1 Irish, 1 Pole, and 1 Yugoslav.

Football has changed.

We didn't win a game between 21st December and 11th April (not from memory had to look it up), finished 17th (out of 22) after 3 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat in the last 8 games ( 2 points for a win in those days).

Septic gloryhunter here. Started watching club football in 2010. I liked Tévez from his play in the World Cup, and City and Blackpool played the most attractive football that year. Blackpool got relegated, so City stayed on the radar for me.

I knew not to ever root for the Rags, so the FA Cup semifinal win was significant for me. I thought, this is a team I could get behind. The following year cemented it for me.

So was that the season when we beat WBA at home and Tommy Booth scored and we just about stayed up. Barnes and Owen would have played for WBA?
