Why did the Sheikh choose us

He chose City for the following simple business reason and this is factual. It was between City Newcastle and Liverpool. Newcastle wanted £500m which made no sense, his brother in law was involved with Liverpool and Arab families never bid against each other which left City the logical choice.

Erm, it was his father in law that had failed to buy Liverpool.. HH looked at City, Newcastle and Everton and as we al know Kenwright will never sell, Ashley was plain rude and here we are now..

Between Newcastle and City.

Thaksin needed to sell quick and Ashley is a plonker. Also there were probably various other investment rumours regarding the North West floating about that will have aided City's cause.

Blue2112 summed it up for me.....

....pick a team, who's rivals are amongst the most successful in the world (sorry but its true - or used to be!!)

Pick a team who's rivals play (arguably) within the same City of that team.

Pick a team who is geared up to do this already, but needs some cash and prompting.......

.....then attempt to overturn the shift of power in that City

An attractive proposition and a good challenge

And one that is working perfectly!!

Cheapest value season ticket soon to be on offer...
You know where the door is!!

As I understand it from talking to people, there were 3 reasons:

1. The support was there. This was a pre-requisite and Newcastle and Everton could also claim good support.

2. The relatively new stadium was a big pull. The continuing problems of Spurs new stadium as well as the poor state of Goodison meant building a new stadium was not necessary - certainly in the short to medium term.

3. The land around the Etihad and opportunity for real estate was enormous. The opportunity of real estate development around Newcastle was very limited. You only have to look at the foreign investment going into property just in the last few years alone in London to realise that foreigners are very keen to invest in Britain.

So essentially: support, stadium and investment opportunity in a nutshell.

Not to worry, mate, those away day fans are going to pay for another 13,000 seats so you can get a season ticket and save yourself from £60 tickets! With Viagogo, you will MAKE MONEY when you don't go to half the games, so don't forget to thank those Asian fans with the game day combo scarves!

BTW, they were getting some stick at today's game..."Who buys a combo scarf for a derby?!"

AND, the answer to the question is THREE LETTERS:

R O I
