Why does Stuart Pearce hate City so much?

Tbf,I didn't know he'd bad mouthed City....a text from a good mate of mine yesterday lunchtime put me straight on that issue...
So i can see where yours,and others sentiments come from.

Fwiw,..my favourite memory of Pearce was nothing to do with City..it was a stunning goal from a free kick ,smashed and curved over the wall into the top corner of Stretford end goal for forest at old trafford.
Utd 0 forest 1. Utd had been giving him jip all match over his England penalty miss. He shut them right up.
I really wish City could have had a left back who played with such power passion and precision....esp during the dark days

The fact that he turned on us,after being sacked ,I can ignore...when you look at the career...a part time non league footballer ,part time, electrician ,original punk from down south,makes it to the very top of the game on these shores and abroad.....an outstanding achievement.and don't forget he played for us under Keegan ,..smashed utd loads of times with Forest.....on the whole,why would he have any true genuine love of what we,ve become
Yes he could have kept his mouth shut....but Punks tend not to do that.
All in all,a Great Man. One of the best left backs I've ever seen play the game.

When I read about the recent medical issue,....as someone who hates flying ......I couldn't think of anything worse being taken suddenly ill whilst in flight ......so I was a bit raw when I came on here yesterday morning,
 
It's probably because the club couldn't afford to give him much money back then to strengthen the poor squad that we had, he only had peanuts to work with, and now present day City managers have millions come their way ..... that, and the fact, that he was made to look like he was a poor manager with his few bargain buys only inspiring a really poor run of form, during which we had difficulty even scoring a goal !!

What would the useless prick have done with more money? I believe a lot of the fall-out was over his decision to take on the England U-21 job at a time when we were battling potential relegation. I'm told John Wardle wasn't pleased and if John, a gentleman in every sense of the word, was pissed off then many others would have been a lot more pissed off. I strongly suspect the infamous Joey Barton interview on Radio Manchester was Alastair Mackintosh's attempt to stick the boot in.

Pearce was a tosser and very few at City had a good word to say for him. And there was worse. There was a clear dividing line in the dressing rome between the white and black players in his time as manager.

He claimed that Stuart didn't share his beliefs but I'm not so sure.

First I've heard of this? (the black and white issue, not Pearce being a tosser. That was a widely held view at the time, I think)

Know a couple of big Forest fans who are very well connected to the club, who don’t like Pearce having met him on numerous occasions. Not a very nice man by all accounts. Was once a very bad drunk, but had a rock bottom moment in a taxi in (I think) Portugal and never drank again after it, or at least didn’t drink for some time after that. Maybe he’s nicer now he’s not drinking.

Don’t think he hates City though. Hate is a bit strong. Just don’t think he feels very much for us; there’s certainly no warmth towards us when he talks about us.

Anyway, hope he recovers.

I met him once, I came away thinking the exact same. Still, hope he gets well soon
 
I met him at a gig at Lancashire CC just stood about on the field. Had a brief chat and thought he was sound. I was pissed though! Can’t even remember what gig it was - must still be pissed!
 
The fact Pearce is the worst manager City have had in my lifetime says a lot about how good we've actually been since I started following us (in 1999), to be honest. Things definitely weren't good under Pearce, and going to home games felt like torture sometimes, but in retrospect (this viewpoint is definitely helped by us having a big period of success for years after) I don't think things were as bad under him as they felt in the moment.

The fact that our worst season under Pearce saw us finish fairly comfortably in 14th despite having to rely on a bunch of journeymen and academy lads is probably enough for Pearce to argue that he did alright with City in tough circumstances. Think I've commented on this before, but I'd forgotten how promising the first six months were under him - we finished 8th in 04/05 and we were hovering between 7th-10th by Christmas 2005.

We had a solid mid-table team that was a bit inconsistent but could turn up against the big boys and, with better discipline, definitely should have made the FA Cup final in 2006. James, Richards Dunne Distin Jordan, Sinclair Reyna Barton Musampa, Cole Vassell (with Sun Jihai, Sommeil, Onuoha, Sibierski, Riera, and Fowler to rotate) was a good 4-4-2 team. Having to deal with Wright-Phillips' departure wasn't easy but we made a good go of it.

It was Andy Cole's injury and subsequent tantrum that derailed things in the end imo. Because that was when Pearce had to use his scouts. He had to get a bargain from the continent who could make the same impact on the club that Cole had done, but he failed in that task and was left with us needing to flog Fowler, James, Sommeil, Cole, Sibierski, Reyna, plus Musampa and Riera, to make ends meet. He was dealt a shit hand but didn't do enough to improve it.

In 12 months our most-used XI went from being that one I just mentioned to Weaver, Richards Dunne Distin Onuoha, Vassell Ireland Barton Beasley, Samaras Corradi. We had a solid back four but fuck all in terms of creativity going forward, basically no experience in attacking positions, and a squad full of players who knew they were gonna be on the way out pronto. Mpenza doesn't get the credit he deserves from our fans for saving us that season.
