why pellegrini

is it just me that thinks this would be the most horrific appointment our board could make ? he hasnt proven himself at all. he took a good malaga side to the quarters of the champions league ill give him that but what has he achieved. i would rather a di mateo or mourinho . is that just me ?

I think he has done a little more - he has lost most of his top players - many of those he has left including himself have not been paid and crucially he managed to get the best out of what he has - i think that is why he is coming in

Still prefer Bobby

Good article on him

Interesting quotes by Van Horseface:

Ruud van Nistelrooy said: “Pellegrini is one of the best coaches I worked under. He’s a big strategist but nothing like Mancini.

“He’s always in conversation with his squad, offering plenty of chances to young players.

“That characterises his quality work and he’ll be good value in the Premier League.”
I have a feeling Dzeko would prosper under him.
I personally don't know how he likes to set his teams up but..
...Pellegrini should be a good fit for City. He has learned English, loves fast, small strikers like Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez...

And Nasri. Pellegrini is a manager who can revitalise and rejuvenate players, he did it with Riquelme, Forlan and Rossi at Villarreal and he can do it here. He will change the opinion that he is a yes man who has had no success in his career in no time at all.

Fingers crossed we get him.

Fingers crossed we don't.

It'd be very surprising to see the top 2 sides in the country both appoint managers that haven't won a trophy in any major league.

If he is anything described by the articles as a tactically astute person who creates close bonds with his players, then he will flourish at this club and if he doesn't, i don't think he'll do much worse than what Mancini has done.

Can you imagine every player pulling in the same direction and actually playing for the manager? There is so much potential to be recognized.

Having won trophies in the past isn't that important. I'm more concerned about him winning them in the future. He sounds like an intelligent man in terms of both tactics and dealing with players on a personal level. I think he can take us forward well.

Dye his hair with lemon juice , made him wear funky glasses and undergo cosmetic surgeries , give him the age-reducing potion , now you have got a superbly cloned Klopp.

All he has to do is win an FA Cup and a single PL title and he'll be a "legend." Precedent now established it seems.

If he wins two FA Cups and a single PL title he'll be Mega Legend. Two FA Cups and two titles, and he'll be Mega Master Legend. Anymore than that and he'll be Divine Legend of The Universe and Everything Innit, innit.

Legend status ain't what it used to be.

Brilliant. It's true though, legend status is very easily awarded... BUT I think the unique circumstances will grant Mancini said status even when future managers win more. Because he ended the drought and won the league in a way that will never be topped by no club ever. The sort of stuff people will be telling their grandkids about in hushed tones 50 years from now.

Pellegrini Out! Will be seriously let down if it really is Pellegrini who replaces Mancini. A lateral move at best.
