He's had the entire season to fix it, whatever 'it' is. Maybe in addition to not revealing what 'it' is, he also failed to mention that he has a two-year plan for addressing it?

"It" as you so eloquently put it is the dismal title challenge, the poor CL performance, the Carling cup exit.. Its what we all have to bear as City fans unfortunately, but most see the room for improvement and some dont and want rid of Bob...

Thats about it..

'It' would suggest one thing, not normally three things! Look, one thing you and I might actually agree about is that Bobby shouldn't necessarily be sacked (nor maybe retained) based on results only. With the Barca Boys in now, there are overarching goals for the entire footballing side of the operation which Bobby will be evaluated on. What kind of a trainer is he? Will he buy into a Barca style of play? Will he bring youth players forward into the first team, as appropriate. It's merely idle conjecture on my part, but I have a feeling that these evaluations will be just as important as where we finish in the League, etc.

I like you, want what is best, and if these guys can all club together to get the best for city then we we will all reap the rewards..

Give Bob one more season is all I want. If he fucks it up then its time to go..

It isnt his time to go just yet.

I think with a fresh overhaul the timings perfect. Why bring in players and then a new manager when you can do both at the same time.

If you think next seasons CL campaign will define his season then I think we will know his fate by September. With him failing in Europe again what next? We can't sack and bring in top manager mid-season because most will be in work at other clubs. You change ideally at end of season so new manager gets a pre-season and chance of signing players of choice. Txiki will be the man who identifies players but a manager agrees them too.

Also say if we do crash out CL again next year the whole season will be looking to the end knowing Mancini will go, what if he wins a CC or Fa Cup, do we then delay again because he's won something? Also take into not taht winning the FA Cup is no better financially than progressing out of the group stages in Europe. It may be a trophy but it's unfortuantely seen as a lesser trophy now. Dalglish won the CC and finalled the FA Cup and was sacked!

By all rights we scraped through in the semi of FA Cup too. Bentitez had us figured and drafted on Torres and changed shape. Instant goal and they should've ahd a penalty when Komapny tugged Torres shirt. 2-2 and we could've been out possibly. Then you think of Real, then you think of this Sprus game. Very similar games.

what was you saying earlier about woulda coulda shoulda..??

monkey say monkey do mate..

All I Know is that we wonna..

Not really Sam, they should've had a penalty. That would have made it 2-2. Are you denying this? If it was them 2-1 and Aguero handled by Luiz I'm sure you and others would say the same.

What I'm trying to say is base the future on what's best rather than say 'he won the fa cup', he may do but we've had a good fixture run in it and we were lucky in the semi final really (they also had a thursday game in russia lets not forget). I'm cutting through the sugar coat to see what I believe is the real context.

And they scored this penalty they should have got did they.. ?? come on Nip you're better than this.<br /><br />-- Mon Apr 22, 2013 11:14 am --<br /><br />

Don't get me wrong, I am no fan of David Moyes. But why is it Everton manage to fuck us over 3 times out of 4? You don't find them managing to do that against United, Arsenal or Chelsea, do you. It's only us. And it's not random chance. I don't dread us going to Goodison any more, because I just expect us to lose.

Why is it we haven't got a plan to deal with that when other top clubs seem to manage? I think that points to a serious lack of tactical nous on our part, and this is a significant weakness of ours. Our CL performances too were down in part to us getting the tactics wrong on the big ocassions.

David moyes is manager of Everton..

exactly.

Spot on mate.

As fans we can look at the FA cup all misty eyed as much as we want but the fact is, it means fuck all when it comes to progressing the club both on and off the field as a European powerhouse.

Fair enough, Sam. We can simply agree to disagree about Bobby. But if he is retained for next season, and turns it all around, I'll be back here to take my medicine and continue to cheer us on. I am desperate for us to continue to move forward with 'The Project' with or without Bobby (or Txiki or Soriano or anyone else). Our enemies are legion, and they are circling overhead, what with their UEFA FFP garbage and now EPL similar requirements, all hatched by Platini, Gill and the rest. Now, the Sheikh's money is somewhat irrelevant, and we no longer have the margin for error in major decision-making that we had when he first purchased the club. There are critical decisions to be taken, including what to do with Bobby, and whatever they wind up being, they had better be good ones, or we could be badly screwed. Txiki, in particular, will be under excruciating pressure this summer, far worse than what even Bobby has had to endure.

It was liverpools poor league position got him sacked... if Bob was 8th or 9th in the league all of us on here would want him sacked.

But hes second.. thats the difference.

People need to remember that any new manager is likely to want to rip up the team and spend like hell. As we are just coming into line with FFP I highly doubt there will be any change - they will give Bob at least another season, and rightfully so.

If a new manager is brought in, it will have to be with the understanding that he will be working, in large part, with our current squad, for exactly the reason you stated. Then again, I expect quite a few players to leave in the summer, so maybe a remake will happen anyway, whether or not Bobby stays.

This is one of the reasons why I think Hiddink might be a perfect choice for us.

I'm not rtying to score points, i'm just saying how close the margins are mate. Fact of matter is we were fortunate v BVB to get a penalty late on and we were unlucky v Ajax when we were denied one.

I'm just saying Chelsea were very unlucky not to get a penalty and they could've most likely made it 2-2 which wopudl then have been game on.

The Fa Cup is a side issue for me. I've made my midn up a while back, I'm thankful of Bob and he has a dog at my house named after ghim but imo we need to part ways for the many reasons I've listed. He's peaked and the timings right. New season coming with fresh faces in the squad and perfect time for new coach being as there's no Euros or WC to break up the majority of the squad.

I think finishing behind Ajax is unforgivable and so too is losing the title effectively by Feb. Crashing out of CC to Villa and the only positive of the season is the FA Cup which may be won against a team that's been relegated and has been progressed in by beating 2 Chapionship teams en-route. It's a cup never the less and I will be deluighted to win it (touch wood) but it should not be his saving grace imho. I'm not ungrateful, far from it, I just want to get the best out of our team and not use the excuse of not seopnding £100m on players as reason for United winning the title. Spurs have jsut 2 strikers and both have either been injured or away from club at points this season yet they are fighting tooth and nail, I don't see that in our squad and as much as players are to blame (for not playing their best, or at least trying to) then the blame falls on one man who's appointed to oversee the playing staff and to get the best out of his squad (the highest wage bill in the league and also league winners only last term with all starting eleven still intact, we may have lost Micah but Zaba has more than filled the gap).

And to be a European powerhouse you need to finish well in the league to gain the Cl spot...which is where we are.

Talking of margins.. what if vinnie hadnt have ducked out of the way of trannies goal at Madrid ??

works both ways.. Football is and will always be "close margins"..thats the real pull of the game..
