Qualification for the CL is important to the club. Failure to qualify would have the manager out the door toot sweet

Most of the concern on here is about revenue and attracting players because you have CL football although we did attract players here without CL football.

No one seems to worry about winning the damn thing just doing okay and making sure we get far enough to make a decent buck. Arsenal have zero ambition to win the CL but their season is focussed entirely on qualification for a tournament they have little to no expectation of winning.

Which is an odd attitude to have and whenever they talk about Wengers excellent record in the CL - qualified 15 years on the bounce yada yada - no one ever mentions he has never actually won the bloody thing. As I said odd.

For me if you don't actually win the competition it makes little to no difference whether you go out the group stages or get knocked out later. For the club its a bit difference in terms of revenue but that ain't my problem.
It's nearly there but what I'm asking is if it is essential for us to progress from the group stages for our current model?

What I'm saying is that we can get by, and even spend a few with our current progression due to the fact that that we spent early and progressed so fast.

Progressing in the CL is a bonus at this stage but not essential to our sustainability, just as you've mentioned in regard to Arsenal.

I hghly doubr that our owners would see progressing in the CL merely a bonus - i would have thought it essential

I also find it dificult to believe that our owners have not compard our dismal CL showing compared to PSG or Malaga

Mancini should and if reports are true will be given another season at least and i think most City fans including myself would want but another CL performance like last season may be a bridge too far

There is absolutely nothing about what our owners have done for us would indiecat ethey are happy to get by
Agree but a lot of people said the same about Mancini having one more go at CL after last year, also for a few years at Inter...

Next year is surely too important to be taking a punt that he suddenly comes good?

I think last year the winning the orem was more important our our CL showing was to be honest pretty decent - 10 points and still not making it - Bobby did well shit happens.

This CL campaign the only mitigating factor was that two of the semi finalists came from our group but in all honesty does not excuse what happened BUT sacking a manager

Looking at Chelski i would hopr that our owners see pressing the eject button too early is both very fucking expensive and cause complete and total mayhem in the prem

bobby has waranted another 12 months - too me the biggest threat is Moriniho whom if he lands at Chelski will without doubt make them a considerable force once again

Yes indeed, we should be looking for proven pedigree: Mourinho, Ancelotti, Klopp, Rafa the gaffer is worthy of consideration too. If any of these are 'available' this summer then we shouldnt be fannying around.

ARE YOU FOR REAL.... RAFA......?

Would rather have Hughes back.

Would prefer to give Bobby a fucking rest of life contract rather than that useless Rafa

Myth

His record this season is stupendous

Out of the CL
Out of the FA
Out of the Leagur Cup
Out of the FIFA World Club thingy

And crucially top 4 loooking dodgy

We know Bobby does a bit of rotation and is partial to the odd moment of madness but fcuk me Rafa he is all of these time 100

After what he did at QPR? Really?

FWIW, I fully expect Benitez to add another European trophy to his cv this season. But then I'm sure some will dismiss that

Mate, he wouldnt be my first choice, hence me putting those names in that order, but I do think he has something, yes. Let's put it this way, if he doesnt stay at Chelsea, and they win the Europa and get top 4 under him, I can see him getting a job with one of the big European teams

Erm, if he's dismissing him to bring in Mourinho, then that 100% the right decision.
It doesnt mean Benitez is a bad manager - just like it wouldnt mean Mancini is a bad manager if we brought Mourinho in to replace him this summer, as we should be trying to do.
Its an upgrade thats all. Its business.
