Not head to head results then. That's how it's normally decided under UEFA or FIFA regulations. Am I wrong?
It usually comes down to head to head results and it is silly that the league doesn't follow that rule. La Liga does and I assume most other leagues would too. I don't know how many cases there have been where it has been decided on those ground though.
But why have a play off game if head to head one team has already proven the better of the two teams? You would be saying, ignore the fact City drew at Anfield and beat them at home. Let them play again. If the head to head was equal then a playoff would be the only way. Ultimately, there seems to be way too much required for a play off to be required. It is unlikely Liverpool will have a better goal difference. But possible. If that is even then it is unlikely they will have scored more than us.
